Purchase breaks

Can anyone advise me? I purchased a dashcam on 28th July 2025. Only in October did I notice that the rear camera had stopped working. I do not know when the camera stopped working.

I contacted the seller, asking to return the dashcam (bear in mind I had to have the dashcam fitted). I sent three messages with no reply, then they responded, explaining they had an emergency.

As awful as their plight was, I explained about the dash cam, and I asked for a full refund.

I was asked to accept a partial refund to find another rear camera, as they did not have one of that make. I did look for a rear camera, but you can only buy both

Am I within my rights to ask for a refund?

You are now into general consumer rights territory, not the ebay money back guarantee.  You will need to do your own research but I think goods are meant to last at least 6 months and if not, you get a full refund.  The problem is that getting that refund is between you and the seller.

It's too late to do anything via ebay.   They only allow 30 days for claims.   But you are still in time to get a refund from your payment provider, depending on how you paid.   So contact them and see what they say.   If you used Paypal you should be able to open a claim direct with them.
