Requesting a refund

The item I bought and paid for was not posted so I opened an 'Item Not Received' request. The seller replied, saying that the item had already been sold so I closed the request in order to request a full refund. However, this no longer seems to be possible. I have contacted the seller to see if he can do it from his end. What else do i need to do? Thanks.

Requesting a refund

Noooo, you must never close a case / request early.  Once closed early,  eBay deem the problem has all been sorted , and you cannot open another for the same item with eBay.

The seller should have fully refunded you through the open case,  or you needed to escalate the case on day 4 , when eBay would have forced the refund.

You need to now turn to your payment provider for help with your refund.

Requesting a refund

*** UPDATE *** An eBay Customer Service agent was able to initiate the refund for me. The thing is, I was led to believe that an 'Item Not Received' request and a 'Cancellation' (and therefore refund) request  were two separate processes, which is why I closed the first one. eBay were very understanding about it and I should receive my refund within the next few days.

Requesting a refund

Good result,  as said eBay removed the seller,  so it would make sense it's on their onus to refund you.

Requesting a refund

Buyers can only request a cancellation, seller has to cancel.

Opening a not received case, if no refund from seller within 3 days then you escalate (ask ebay to step ).

Opening any case leads to a refund but buyer has to initiate the moves, ebay will not act on their own, lack of action by buyer leads to running out of time, and assumption that buyer and seller have sorted out any problems.

Suggest you read about the 30 day money back guarantee, there is a link on the right side of every listing.
