Private or business

I promote my Greeting Card business through a shop. £32.40 a month plus extra fees etc.

I can list 250 Buy it now items a month for the price.

What I want to know is how someone can have over 500 listings and be listed as a private seller. Obviously making to sell.

An eBay seller must register as a business if, for example, they sell items they have bought to resell, they make items in order to sell them, or if they buy items for their business.

No wonder it's hard going if they aren't paying the same fee structure as me.

ebay occasionally make a seller register, but do not seem to bother with the 1000s of unregistered businesses, and the loss of fee income which must run into millions.

It is hard work you are right, but eBay don't seem to care or bothered to do anything about it. It would appear the only time they will do this if a sellers earnings hit VAT thresholds, from their sales, then they have a legal requirement from HMRC to deal with matters.

But as John mentions the lost revenue by eBay will run in to millions... But they obviously aren't too bothered about that. If it was my business and probably the same for many of the users on these boards, we wouldn't have such a slap-hazard approach and attitude to matters.

So the likes of us honest folk are subsidising the others! I think something needs to be done....
