Payments can't be accepted directly into your PayPal account, they go into the bank account you have registered with eBay:

If you're trying to pay for an item with PayPal, just select PayPal at eBay checkout, you don't need to link your account.

You don't, linking paypal accounts is no longer an option, all payments go to eBay whatever method is used and then eBay release them to your account for you to withdraw to your bank
