Buyer sends me an offer. I want the item so I counter offer. Buyer ignores it, now just left in limbo. Feel like I’ll go somewhere else if they can’t be bothered to respond! 
Can I retract my counter offer and how?

If it is a counter offer to an offer from seller, then I do not think you can cancel.

Bear in mind that these offers from a seller, after first offer is made, further offers to “watchers” can be made automatically and seller may not be aware that it was made and is perhaps not available to respond to your counteroffer.
