I’ve bought an expensive keyboard, it’s BNIB unopened and is set to collect only.
Collection is from a public Road. Loading bay (hence suspicions), however the seller seems reluctant to test before purchase, however those issues have been alleviated by eBay saying if it’s defective I can raise item not as described and get full refund in first 30 days.
My question though turns to the collection itself. What is eBay policy or your advice for BNIB collection where either
a) no opportunity to open box to check contents is actually the expected keyboard OR
b) seller refuses to open box to show me content because he’s concerned that it will now be a open box and in case I don’t proceed with collection (scan my QR code, he’s left with less perfect item to resell)
So what do I do. My concern is if I take the box, after scanning the QR code, and he then drives off before I get chance to inspect it, if I then raise a dispute that product is not as described(say box has different keyboard, he
could lie/challenge and say it was collected in person as described and then claim I’m lying, by saying I’ve swapped keyboard, after all I QR shows collected in person.
Any thoughts? What are the rules once I’ve collected without inspecting the box contents(if I’m unable to), also given collection is from loading bay, in public area, not at his personal address, but it is near his office, he says.
The other thing is the seller history is 300 count, registered 2006, and has 100% feedback.
