I am absolutely disgusted with eBay today after over 20 years of being a member I purchased a fraudulent counterfeit item which I didn’t then try to use until after the 30 days. EBay have recognised that this was a counterfeit item as they have removed it from sale and the seller is longer a registered user but they will not honour a refund to me. No good will knowing that I have purchased through eBay an item not for sale ; it was a face product which brought my son out in a terrible rash!! I am closing my account today, I’ve had enough it took me a long time to me able to get through to them as the item had been removed i couldn't open a case. Absolutely disgusted

" as the item had been removed i couldn't open a case."
In any event unfortunately as you were out of time you could not avail of eBay protection.
your feedback indicates no such problem and as you have live listings you won't be able to close your account today.

I wouldn't recommend buying any product that you put on your skin from any online seller unless they're a registered UK business seller and licensed to sell that particular brand. Many of the counterfeit products from China can have dangerous ingredients in them.
If you paid within the past 120 days you can pursue a refund via your card provider, you may need some kind of proof that the product is counterfeit though.

The buyer protection fee is not used to protect buyers when there are issues with an item. That's the job of the money back guarantee but only within the time limits and other rules.

I believe they should make provision for those buyers who have bought in good faith.
Users often post here about what they "believe"eBay should have done.
The fact is that eBay adheres to the terms of its money back guarantee, which you accepted in the user agreement. You had 30 days in which to open a case because the item was counterfeit. eBay would have accepted your word without even seeing the item, and the seller wouls have been required to refund you.
From day 31 eBay has no interest. Neither, incidentally, would PayPal which aslo now requires clims foR not as decribed to be files within 30 days. So it's vital to check items on delivery.
You hven't told us when you bought this or how you paid, buy your payment provider e.g. credit or debit card issuer may still be able to help.
