Simple Delivery Postage problem

Hi 

I've just began a new listing and noticed the addition of something called "simple delivery" for my postage option. However, I am now unable to locate 'custom postage.' What's going on?

The vast majority of my items are listed with Royal Mail 48 Tracked which costs £3.35 for items under 2kg. But this 'Simple delivery' has a price already selected, The buyer will pay £2.94 apparently. And it seems I have no choice in the matter.

Is anyone else experiencing this bizarre turn of events? A friend of mine noticed something similar, but he at least has two options 'Simple Delivery' or 'Custom postage.' I have no such option. According to ebay help there is a technical issue upon which  they are working.

Any ideas?

Here's a workaround I've used when this happened to me.

Click on Collection then straight away back to click on Postage Only, the custom option shows,  and you can relist the item with the postage you wish to use /charge.

Hi brhylliant, thanks for your post.

In your listing flow, you should be able to see an option to keep simple delivery or go to custom postage. If that's no happening, and the advice above doesn't work for you either, could you please take a screenshot of what you see when you try set postage for your listings, so I can take a further look?

When you reach the postage part of the listing, there is the Simple Delivery nonsense and underneath there is Search Advanced Options". Click on that and then you can choose carriers and RM etc.

I have just spent half an hour on the phone to ebay about this, i am now more confused than ever.

I phoned them this afternoon about this and she said a fix would be applied in 24 to 48 hours

I cannot opt out of simple postage it’s the only option I have on all my new listings from yesterday 25/03/25. I know how to opt out & change it as been doing eBay 25 years. My issue is that the option to set my own postage has totally disappeared. Is anyone else having this same issue? Are EBay forcing us to use simple delivery forever now??

I phoned yesterday and she told me it was being fixed in 24 to 48 hours.
If when listing you click on Collection only , then go back to postage,  the custom postage option reappears. I did this today. But I was assured it was a glitch that was to be fixed

Hi - Frustrating isn't it? One customer service rep suggested the following method when selecting postage.

Scroll down to 'package size' - should be under 'simple deliver'

Scroll down past package sizes and you will reach 'switch to custom package.'

This will restore postage options - simple, yet ebay for reasons best know to itself did not inform about this change. Hope this helps.

I've just found out that when you relist an item it defaults to 'Simply Delivery' options so you have to toggle again to get custom option.  You would think by relisting it would relist everything as was !  Might try Vinted instead now.

SD should be relabelled as STD, as it is something nobody wants!!

Something else I noticed when re-doing my listing, on the 'Active' page it still showed old postage but it was only when clicked into item that saw it had auto changed to SD on relisting !  It doesn't appear this change is consistent - if showed SD on 'Active' page then would have noticed when first re-listed not after item sold.

I see alot of people are getting caught out with the weight aswell - ie printing label with default weight and post office not accepting.  I'm sure alot of private sellers won't have scales at home.

Not sure why Ebay has to keep changing things that just worked thinking they are 'better'

last week I had an option of simple delivery or custom postage on my I phone - This week I don’t get an option just simple delivery —/- so I have to go on the laptop and there I can change the option to post  “ note all different wordings”  once you have changed the postage option to your choice it doesn’t add a cost? So you will have to insert this- - - then back to the phone it will have a message postage has been updated then by trying to put in the weight or trying this then that if your lucky you can get the postage you wish

EBAY technicians need to sort it out

look up technical issues in the ask the community the technician there says we need to update our phones ???!!?

I list always on a pc , that seems resolved today. I have told them there is no way I am using this ridiculous simple delivery !

how do you add photos  I am 72 years old and not that good on being computer literate so I found the phone easier to list an item  not any more since the simple delivery came into play

On your phone click on the simple delivery text that it defaults to thrn

Click on collection only

then click on postage only

should work then
