I have had a case opened where the buyer hasn’t received their item, it has left the global shipping hub and gone missing from there, I believe this is now eBay’s responsibility, but we have reached day 3 and still no sign of resolution

You need to clearly state on the case that this is a GSP item and it is thus ebay's problem to resolve. As long as you have delivery confirmation to the Lichefield hub, you will be fine, but you may need to prod ebay as the bots may have not picked it up.

Did you enter tracking into the case to show delivery to Global, as that is all you need to do. It is then Ebay's Problem.
If system is not automated, then holiday period may delay things, but as it appears there should be nothing further you need do.
