Royal Mail Delays

Is anyone else experiencing delays with Royal Mail?

I've had RM48 items taking a day or two longer to land and RM Second Class letters taking over a week in some cases to reach buyers.

Locally mail box collections for letter posting, which used to happen every tea time, now happen once a morning and some days they don't even turn up to collect, leaving it one or even two days between pickups!

Seems like yet more price rises for less of a service... RM needs genuine competition in this country!

Royal Mail only Garantees special delivery.

Everything else is a rough service guideline. 

If you want a specific delivery date and don't want to pay the very high premium for special delivery, use a different courier.

Well aware of that.....

Advising Second Class letters to be delivered within 2-3 working days and RM 48 within two working days, yet taking four, five or in some cases up to ten, is not acceptable though is it...

I have just been in touch with RM / Parcel force about delays.

They confirmed there are big delays at the Basingstoke depot if any of your 

parcels are heading that way, as one of mine is, and stuck there.

I am sure the eBay FDDs have taken this into account , excuse my sarcasm.

Yes.  2nd Class is very slow - I've dodged the replacement bullet a couple of times because the package arrived just in time, but had to send out a replacement today for a 2nd Class that's over a week late.

I've had one compaint about a T48 that took over a week to arrive, but I don't check the RM site so there may have been more where the buyer didn't complain.

My off-the-wall theory is that RM have seen all the Xmas stuff creeping into stores, so they're getting into practice for the big slowdown in December.
