In 2019 I was subject of a fraud. Police investigation determined that the crime was orchestrated by an international criminal group. In December 2020, I detected the same item for sale on ebay with a similar M.O. I reported this to eBay. Before the police could carry out any further invetigation the advertisement was removed. Apparently, for eBay - Case closed! Is this really good enough? Should our eBay organisation not further assist international law enforcement agencies in the detection and prosecution of such criminal groups?   Community thoughts please? ... View more

Hi, I was currently looking for a GPU and i try to secure a 3060ti on eBay, i don't use eBay that much so I was not aware of this photos scamming **bleep** where they write in small Caps on the description that its a "Jpegfile of a GPU only" but they sell it and advertise it as they would selling a real GPU  and charge £460 for it. I am an idiot to fall for it, but this is also such a dick move from the seller to do this and i think I deserve my refund back because that's so dishonest and ill-intention. I tried to contact eBay about it but they seem not to give a shizzle about it, saying things like ermm well you have to wait for the item to arrive and you have to contact the seller about it , but the seller is currently unreachable either has been band, deleted his account or been reported/flagged but eBay really doesn't want to look into it so I feel kinda hopeless. I also filed a dispute on PayPal but I just don't have a lot of trust in it... I dunno some people will probably say I deserve it for being so stupid but I just didn't expect that there would be people like this on eBay that is trying to take advantage of others excitement and desperation to secure a high demanding item and I have been caught off-guard due to my lack of knowledge in this platform (now I know....). I just wanted this GPU to make my first ever pc build and this killed it hard for me, i mean maybe he hasn't done anything legally wrong but morally yes, if he wants to sell a picture he should make it clear its a picture not write the spec down of the GPU selling it like its the real thing and then writing down on the description at the very bottom with small cps sneakily saying its a photo. eBay is basically just supporting scammers by letting these things slide and I think i have lost the trust in this platform   I just want to hear other people opinion and if it happened to them before or what should I do and if the PayPal dispute is a good idea      ... I bought two Wax Lyrical Advent calendar, kept one for myself and gave one to my daughter.    I noticed the tes lights in mine seemed faulty as the would burn for a short while and go out.   Today my daughter rang up quite upset as she was watching a tea light she had lit when it suddenly blew up into a large flame which was the length of the container. She managed to put the tea light out but said the container was black.   I am concerned as there are still two people selling these calendars and others who have bought them should be warned. The calendars should be withdrawn as there could be a seriuos fire if this happens again and nobody is around.   i have spent ages trying to find out how i can report this to eBay and cannot find a way to do this. i have contacted the seller but have not had a reply as it is the weekend.   Can somebody advise me. Last night I received 5 messages on my self phone informing me that my credit card has been used for buying goods from a company in Hong Kong.(MIHOYO LIMITED HONG KONG HK).I have cancelled my credit card this morning but I don't know if I will receive my money back.Please let me know what is the purpose of buying products online and pay with paypal and still to be stolen from some stupid people. Noticed a lot of PS5 and Xbox Series console listings from scalpers which is completely disgraceful. Surely ebay should be doing something about this? It can be classed as ripping off users who wanted to buy the consoles but the scalpers have blantently taken advantage of it being so close to Christmas and clearly abusing this to gain insane profits by selling nearly twice the price.   Also noticed when searching for "PS5" the numerous scam letters on ebay which clearly violate the policies so should be removed.   Rant over!   ... This problem has been highlighted in the media and ebay have said they are removing them but still lots on site. A sheet of paper is listed and bids have reached a staggering £7.700. No way of contacting ebay in person to make them aware only by individually reporting each one. ... View more

I've had a message from 'eBay for Business' which says I need to register my VAT details with HMRC, even though I don't have a business account. The email is full of hyperlinks and the sender email <contact@forbusiness.ebay.com> looks dodgy. Is this a scam?   ... View more

I bought some "new with tags" football shirts recently from an overseas seller, (Spain - the country from where the teams were from). Upon arrival I could see that the shirts were fake. They had been sold as being made by "Adidas", "Macron" etc and therefore I assumed they were genuine. The prices were cheaper than in the shops, but were not so cheap that they raised suspicion.   I have not contacted the seller (who has a 100% rating), as they do not accept returns and I think it would be better to report such matters to Ebay so that they can stop people selling fakes on their platform. Unfortunately I cannot see anyway of contacting E-bay directly to report such crimes.   As a fairly new buyer on Ebay, such things put you off!   Does anyone have an email address at E-bay where such matters can be reported?   Thanks in advance.         ...
