Simple Delivery - refund postage

I posted on here a while back "Not so Simple Delivery" when Ebay only gave me the option of using 'Evri' which we do not have on the Isle of Wight. I did not use the label, could not cancel it, but eventually submitted a refund request which Ebay acknowledged saying to allow up to 14 days to process it.  Six weeks later, still no refund so I contacted Ebay. Unbelievable what they told me: "As the postage had been paid by the buyer, Ebay have refunded him" So no refund for me. The listing was clear that the buyer paid for the item plus postage, which owing to Ebay's incompetence over 'Simple Delivery' meant that I had to pay the £2.60 odd for a Royal Mail label outside of the Ebay platform. Perhaps Ebay are great when things go well, but they are lousy when they mess things up.

For the future, you can turn off Evri for SImple Delivery, the link is on your previous post. But ebay could still give you an Evri label anyway, so you may want to change any SD listings to seller pays postage. In that scenario, you then arrange you own postage and claim the SD label cost back.

Thanks for the response.  At the time, Evri was the only option although it was changed shortly after my complaint. I had listed the item with Buyer pays postage of £3.03 and having now found the RM receipt see that postage was actually £3.45 I am very annoyed that Ebay refunded postage to the buyer and not me. It is clearly wrong, but they will not rectify their mistake.

There are other platforms for selling out there and I will not be listing anything on Ebay again.
