EBAY SETTING INCORRECT POSTAGE

Ebay wont allow me to set my postage myself. My items are often over £200 yet you put the delivery at " simple" and £3.45 . Yet the tracked method can be £11.95 . You wont allow me to change the settings  and yet its not tracked. It has to be tracked!!!  So frustrating

It looks like you're back to selling after a break. These days the easiest way to choose your own postage is to upgrade to a Business Account. If you continue selling as a Private Seller then you are obliged to use eBay's Simple Delivery, when available. This is a tracked service with cover up to £750. eBay refund the Buyer if things are lost or damaged, and they protect you from delivery related Negative/Neutral feedback. But remember if you open a business account, you have to pay a monthly fee for the shop and also pay to relist your items EVERY month. Depending on your subscription, you have an allowance and anything after that allowance costs you money. Upside, your buyers don't have to pay the stupid Buyer Protection fee but you will have to pay approx 12% selling commission on every item.

Simple delivery only uses tracked methods of postage and eBay cover the item up to the purchase value.

The costs of operating legally should not be a factor in deciding to do so.

wow so now ebay forces you to use their cheaper postage even if its not what they also tell me to insure it for. Thats messed up and really screws the seller big style esp if i have high price items

Properly registered businesses do not use Simple Delivery.

Not quite correct I'm afraid. I was stupid enough to change from a private seller to a business seller and I was promised (should have learned a lesson here!) that all my private seller listings (close to 1800 items) would automatically and OVERNIGHT revert to normal and NOT be Simpleton Delivery. How wrong!!! I became a business seller on 14th July and I am still selling Simple Delivery items. I sold two today.
