Request for courier for local collection

I’m new to selling. I’m selling for local collection only. I received this request “Hi, please advise if it is ok to arrange my own collection by courier from your place? Thanks”. I’m considering this is possibly a scam of some sort. It looks like I could ask the buyer for their 6 digit code and wait for funds to clear before giving contact details for them to arrange courier. But I suspect all sorts of issues arise if they then claim any problems with the item or claim issues with courier. Thanks for any pointers.

Request for courier for local collection

If a buyer arranges their own courier, that is a third party is used,  then they void all buyer protection under eBay's 30 day MBG  Money Back Guarantee.

You can send them a message by all means if they wish to send their own courier to do so,  but you will only release the item if they bring with them that 6 digit QR code.

I would also enter that code in the presence of the courier to make sure it is correct ,  and shows the item to be collected.

The buyer would have to pay before you could exchange contact details but funds would not be released to you until the item had been collected and you submitted the collection code.

The courier can supply the collection code at the time of collection.  A buyer would probably be reluctant to give you the code in advance.

Buyers who use their own courier are not covered by the Money Back Guarantee and can't return items so the risk is mainly with the buyer.

Make sure you keep all messaging through Ebay and you should be fine.
