CANNOT SEE CERTAIN CATEGORIES WHEN SELLING

I am a private seller registered on eBay.uk. When I list items and search for suitable category, I do not see some categories used by others for similar items. For example: Salt & Pepper pottery set. I see others have listed these under: Collectables & Art > Pottery, Ceramics & Glass > Decorative Cookware & Tableware > Salt & Pepper shakers. I am not seeing this option or any other appropriate category available to list under. Any ideas out there? Thank you.

Well use the option on other listings to “sell similar” which will take you to the category used.

CANNOT SEE CERTAIN CATEGORIES WHEN SELLING

Thank you for this, good idea. Just wondering why I don't see those categories in my drop down. Maybe a difference between eBay.uk and eBay.com? Or more categories visible when listing from a mobile app? I use desktop with Microsoft edge.

CANNOT SEE CERTAIN CATEGORIES WHEN SELLING

@tomato_kitschup , it's the stupid way ebay display the categories on listings. For most categories, you'll never find them by starting from the first term in the breadcrumb trail as it doesn't actually exist. Ebay have these broad terms like Collectables & Art or Media etc that they use internally but don't use as category names on the site. Then, in a ridiculous move quite some time ago now, someone thought it would be a really good idea to tack these non-existent, meaningless labels at the beginning of the visible category string, making it impossible for sellers to reach the desired end category as the top level one doesn't exist.

In your example above, the real category is  Pottery, Ceramics & Glass > Decorative Cookware & Tableware > Salt & Pepper so when listing you need to start at Pottery, Ceramics & Glass, not Collectables & Art (as there's no such category). If you try the closest to it and start at Collectables, you won't find it because that's not where it is (Pottery, Ceramics & Glass being a completely different top level category to Collectables).

All of my listings appear as starting with the top level category, Media > but there's no such category. They're all either Music > or Books, Comics & Magazines > but because ebay themselves refer to both of these internally as being in the media categories, they've pointlessly stuck the word in at the start.

I'm guessing they have similar words for lots of other broad category groupings so the issue is probably widespread. It is one of their most stupid layout flaws.
