Blimey that was a bit good!
A pat on the back for ebay customer service .
About 4 weeks ago I had a case opened by buyer for pair of jeans not delivered. Long story short, they were tracked and shown as being held at nearest yodel service hub (because they were unable to deliver) ebay closed case after 3 days because they were technically delivered and clearly not lost. Buyer protection is applied and I get a message to say no refund due . End of.
Yesterday I get another email to say case reopened ( probably because buyer nagging ebay) refund has been made from my funds and there's now ding on my account to boot !!!
I go to the "appeal " link on the case and ask for call back. Phone rings within 3 mins . The rep is already linked into my account and has the case up in front of them . He listens to what i say , aggrees with me and reverses the deduction there and then . Sorted within 1 minute
My guess is that this service is part of the "value" that they are wanting to build into business accounts . It is easy to look at bottom line comparisons with Vinted and conclude that Vinted is better
I think ebay are playing a long game here ...pay fees but get more for it x

This is standard practice, a buyer is allowed to appeal the decision if the item never actually got delivered and it is being held at a pickup location, or the tracking isn't quite accurate (no actual information where it was delivered which happens with some couriers, amazon logistics is one) then the seller appeals back.
It will say on the case you agreed to give the buyer a refund and never issued this or something along those lines.
I once got an email from CS which was meant for the buyer on one item, they got told tough they can't accept an appeal because there is a signature and tracking at their address and they are to contact the courier to dispute delivery and that eBay can't help any further with this.

Agreed , It was a boob on the part of ebay and I was fully expecting numerous repetitive messages to them to get it resolved but it was so easy and quick . That was what I was impressed with. On the other hand I have an on going issue with Vinted and I have little confidence that they will do any thing at all x

My neighbour bought a watch on Vinted - not a cheap watch, I think he said £60. He received a Pokemon toy! He showed it to me, it was a good quality Pokemon toy - but it wasn't a watch.
He contacted the seller, who just said that he'd sent a watch - and stop bothering him with messages. The seller was quite rude in his reply.
He contacted Vinted, who just said 'Tough. Sort it out with the seller' and cut the call.
I told him that eBay loves buyers, he should have bought the watch from an eBay business seller and then he'd have got his money refunded when he sent the toy back as SNAD. He said that Vinted don't have SNAD - how can they not have SNAD? Does the Consumer Rights Act not apply to Vinted?
