Royal Mail Large Letter query

Will I be able to sell a CD under £5, weight less than 100g and send Royal Mail Large Letter and using large letter stamps that I already have at home.

a) at the present

b) after 15th April.

Thanks in advance for any replies

Yes, if your items are less than £10 (excluding buyer protection fee) and under 100g you should be able to opt out of Simple Delivery during the listing process, and use whatever postage you want.

Sorry I'm still a bit confused, which one of the prices below is correct for the under £10 and under 100g to opt out of simple delivery:

a/ £8.91 + £1.08 (BPF) = £9.99

b/ £9.99 + £1.12 (BPF) = £11.11

Cheers.

Thanks, I'm still confused.

Surely its either 'a' or 'b' not both, that said if you mean CS has said both, that makes sense.

They are both under £10 excluding the buyer protection fee.

It’s £10 excluding bpf so if you sell it for 10£ it qualifies for custom postage

but this is April 2025 eBay you’re asking about and goalposts

 could be changed sigh

What I find distasteful is eBay seeing all this confusion on the boards and not clarifying it

just clarify it …cos it’s important

well may not to you but it is for your customers

thats IF you don’t want to lose them by ignoring them 🙄

It used to be relatively straight forward to list/sell on ebay but now I've got multiple spreadsheets for one thing or another.

Vinted is better

you might get lower prices but you actually shift your stuff

here no views no sales for all the effort you put in to specifics this specifics that

list a top and say it’s sleeveless then later on you get told to fill in missing specifics ..like what type of sleeve has it got, it has not got a f sleeve it’s sleeveless,., F off  wasting my time

you get none of that c rap on vinted

pretty sad compared

Thanks.

Selling my unwanted possessions is just a hobby but if simple delivery turns out bad may look elsewhere.  The main scenario of sd that I do not like the sound of is, either the buyer/seller purchasing a postage label from ebay that is wrong for the package being sent, and either have to insist that the post office take it or purchasing a correct postage label from selling funds.

Don't take any of this assurance as gospel.

It has NOT been confirmed by eBay that "large letters" are included in the exemption.

Only "letter sized packages", are referred to, and nobody knows whether that includes what Royal Mail class as "large letters", or if it only refers to what they class as "letters".

The question was asked directly in the weekly chat on Wednesday, and eBay could not answer. It is pretty plain they do not know, either.

Some people are asking CS, but anyone who has read these boards knows that they can't be trusted to tell you anything you don't want to hear. They just want you off the phone as quickly as possible.

I hope large letters are included, but remain to be convinced.

So say I have a pair of earrings for sale under a tenner and weighing very little

do they expect me to post them in an envelope with the backs poking out of the paper plus risk getting them damaged? Or risk a postie stabbing their finger? or worse, jamming up a Royal Mail sorting machine

or do they expect me to send them as a 1kg parcel

Bet you a fiver they will be allowed on custom postage

4 days to go and all will be revealed

like a magic show 🤣

I also sell CDs on eBay, but only a digipak weighs less than 100g, a standard CD in a jewel case is around 130g including packaging.

I have asked eBay to change the rule to exempt from Simple Delivery items that weigh less than 100g OR priced at under £5, not under 100g AND under £5.

They also need to provide large letter up to 250g rate and a small parcel up to 2kg rate to fit in with Royal Mail tariffs.

Does this mean that an item has to actually sell for £10 or under to qualify for custom postage?  Surely we would have to list something as a Buy It Now if this is the case?  I have asked for clarification elsewhere but there is no definitive answer yet.
