I've never heard of this before... (I haven't done much in the way of returns though.. I been lucky!.😀)
My husband needs to return a camera lens because it doesn't work (not a 'change of mind')
And it says "If you use an ebay returns label, it will be deducted from your refund amount"
This is from a business seller (in the UK) 12000 feedback.

This?:
That's all above board, that's just displaying the sellers return policies for change of mind returns.
If a return is opened for a not as described reason then obviously it overrides this and the seller or eBay issue a pre-paid returns label.

as with your good self, im not overly familiar with returns, and certainly not with ebays system.
Without knowing what is included in the 'refund amount', are you saying the buyer is paying for the return when the item malfunctions?
Ive always resolved any issue directly with the buyer, and i believe satisfactory all round, but ebay make things more difficult each time they improve a process.

It just says in the 'returns' part of the item that the cost of the returns label (if used) will be 'deducted from the refund amount'. Under what circumstances of return it doesn't say......
But it's a 'doesn't work' , not a 'change of mind'.
Hubby has tried to contact the seller with no joy yet; if he gets no answer within the next couple of days, I'll get him to open a returns case and see what happens.
If a refund appears *without* the cost of the return postage, any ideas on how to get it back ( without having to get a call-back from somebody who usually hasn't got a clue either😂)

It may well be that the message is not getting to the Seller - ive been led to that conclusion with more than one Seller.

CS unless none UK in Dublin, as the Mentors insist even , is not worth using full stop.
Wasnt it easy when we just negotiated with the Buyer / Seller regarding an issue, then made the appropriate Paypal refund, including paying for a return postage over and above the original order sum should that be agreed - now ebay have improved the process.
Do those who 'create' the process ever even use it to asess functionality i wonder?

Where does it say that Lucy?
Is that coming up on the actual returns request form, or is the business seller stating this somewhere?

Hello Vyolla......
Well! I
just checked on my *own* watched items (hubby not here at the mo) and they all say that! 😲
(Everything from a swimsuit to paint to a pack of cable-ties....) all from business sellers.
It is written on the item page.
Underneath the 'buy it now' 'add to list' 'add to basket' bit.
Underneath 'postage', where it says 'returns' - I've never seen it before....!

Thank you!
I reckon that should be a bit more obvious: stop people worrying that they'd have to post a NAD back themselves....

Vyolla is correct, as usual.
I have just started a return for an item that was not as described from a private seller who's terms and conditions state buyer pays return postage. After some nudging by Ebay the return was accepted and Ebay are arranging for a prepaid label to be sent to me.
