Reactivate your eBay account

Dear All,

I received email as my new account restricted and to reactivate I need to speak to customer support as I am running business account not individual.

I spoke to customer support and I am not getting any support as customer support don’t have any reason or explanation executive said they can’t tell me what is the reason your new account is restricted as company policy don’t allow them and said if we tell seller what wrong they have done wrong all will start correcting same and reactivate their account, when I heard this I was so shocked this is from eBay executive.

When I told executive that this is not personal account it is business account but still, he kept saying he can’t tell me the reason and can’t activate account. I told executive that the email which I received says its temporary deactivation and my account is only restricted for listing as general practice and after talking to executive account will be enabled for listing again, but executive kept saying I can’t reactivate and can’t give any reason as per company policy.

When I told executive I been using eBay more than 15 years then executive said but your account is new I told executive I have personal account which I am using eBay before Flipkart bought it and when eBay started their business.

After this the executive said oh ok let me see what can be done in this case and you will receive an email in next 42 hours on decision about listing activation, I kept saying to executive my account is not suspended as it is new and only need verification to reactivate listing, but he kept denying.

I dol him that I am ok even if you suspend my account as I am running ecommerce business, but I want to know the reason, but executive kept denying and saying he can’t tell me the reason as it is against company policy.

End of the conversation I told executives I am not finding this conversation as a professional and I wasn’t expecting this is the way eBay people speak because I am running business, I am not home individual whom you are talking to.

I want to know this is how eBay people speak or do I go and protest for this on LinkedIn as I am connected with Flipkart founders ?

Thanks And Regards,

Royal Retails

Reactivate your eBay account

This account was opened a few days aago have you registered this accout with eBay's Managed Payments?

You need to provide eBay with details of a bank account and have this account verified.  The usual method here, is for eBay to send 2 micro deposits into that nominated bank account for you to receive,  and confirm to eBay.

Once this is completed,  you will be able to list items for sale,  and receive payouts from those sales.

This will show you how to register for eBay's Managed Payments.

To add to advice already given:

The name on Business Bank Account /Cheques must be exactly the same as you enter on eBay for Bank Verification.

Reactivate your eBay account

Did you make business sales on your personal account?

Is the other account in good standing (eg above standard and not suspended?)

Were you asked to register as a business seller on your other account?

Hopefully doing what the others suggested will get it working for you. As you mention it’s “not suspended as it is new and only need verification”. If not, manually look through your profile to see if there appears to be any important info missing or incorrect.

If it does work, it confirms to me that most eBay reps on the help desk have limited info themselves, and don’t know what they are doing outside their canned responses cheat sheets. (And all the bots do is send you in circles!)

Reactivate your eBay account

It doesn't matter if it is a different account

If you have restrictions on another account then they will be applied to ALL accounts

eBay link all your accounts

You cannot open a new account to get around restrictions on another account

To add something again:

I noticed you have opened a UK Business with a UK Address & Business Number today matching the eBay UK Account.

When you contacted eBay's Customer Services in the last few days, they probably could only see a Business Company with nearly the same name (one word extra) in India (this maybe why eBay's  Automatic System could not connect and verify your UK Bank Account  - this is only a thought).

The other problemn with using a virtual office address rather than a real UK address, is that if any other person has held an eBay account before, and used the same virtual address, then all other eBay accounts from any user are also suspended.

eBay suspend all accounts if an address is blacklisted by them, regardless of who holds the account

I imagine virtual office addresses get blacklisted very rapidly as they are used by lots of sellers. It's only a matter of time until one of them messes us and gets blacklisted, ensuring that the address cannot be used by any other sellers in future.

Reactivate your eBay account

The usual reason they will restrict an account and not tell you why is for the reasons I gave in my post above

Using a virtual address means that if any other seller who has used this address has ever been suspended by eBay in the past, all future sellers who use this address will also be blacklisted and prevented from trading on eBay

Due to GDPR, ebay cannot tell you this, as it relates to another users account. There was a thread very similar yesterday, and the reason for restriction was a previous seller had been suspended but they would not tell the seller this due to GDPR. The seller managed to work out why, as eBay made a mistake and accidentally gave the suspended sellers username to the seller trying to get unrestricted!

The virtual address is the problem, you will not be able to sell until you find an address where nobody has had an eBay account that has been suspended before, and it may be too late if eBay now associate your account with that virtual address. Changing it may not fix anything. eBay might also think you aren't really in the UK when you use a virtual address...

even if I have given business virtual address, Ihave given mine home address as director address in that case ebay should not have problem as addressed are actual uk address of my home.

If the virtual business address you used has been used by other sellers who have been banned from selling on eBay then you will also be banned from selling on eBay.  Once eBay make the connection between your virtual business address and your home address it will also become impossible to use your home address to sell from, as eBay will blacklist that address as well.  Once an address is blacklisted it remains blacklisted forever, and all accounts at that address will be affected.

Reactivate your eBay account

Hi royalretails, thanks for your post.

Sorry to hear about your account and that you didn't have a good experience when contacting customer service.

When these kinds of restrictions are placed, we email you with the instructions of how to resolve it. Normally, you'd need to contact us, so we can look into it for you. Based on your post, I can see that you did contact us, and then they would give you an outcome for the appeal of your restriction. As per our policies, eBay will not tell you the reason why your account was restricted and/or suspended, while I understand this could be frustrating, this is to prevent other users from bypassing our policies and procedures.

I understand this is not ideal for you, but I hope this clarifies everything.

Thank you,

Marco
