Just to respond to your main points:

I totally agree. Atm my existing listings dont have simple delivery, but cant create any new listings without SD. I feel sooner or later my current listings will be forced into SD.
I hate the idea of being told how to post an item - sometimes I dont even know how im going to post things myself due to weight, multiple items, lockers, royal mail, DPD, even the type of item etc. We live in a small village which doesnt have any nearby EVRi postshops, the Postoffice van only vists 3 times a week (sometimes not even then) but we do have some InPost lockers (which have been useful). We arent hours away from a large town/city but its not worth the cost.
SD removes InPost lockers for me, the nearest EVRi is 20min car trip (each way) - taking around 40-50 mins for one parcel (sometimes only for £10, or less), and no DPD for larger/more expensive items (which I feel they need).
When SD comes onto my listings I will greatly scale-down or remove everything. All im doing is trying to sell a few odd bits, I dont need the hastle of catching a ride for the sake an £5-10 order.
I have removed EVRi from my options but heard people getting labels for EVRi anyway.

Just to confirm that everything jckl1957 says is correct.
It hadn't made much difference to me and what it has is an improvement. I could take parcels to the same Evri parcel shop as before, not that I do so if I can send the item by Royal Mail. I can arrange Royal Mail collections without having to log into their web-site and without paying for them or could still take parcels to a Post Office if that suited me. Neither I nor the Buyer now have to pay for extra insurance on high-value items.
As for leea.000's problems I agree that Simple Delivery is a one-size-fits all scheme that won't suit everybody. Royal Mail coming 'round only three times a week at most is a fault with them not e-Bay. Is it possible that a van doesn't come 'round daily because there's nothing to deliver or collect? Have you tried booking a collection and it hasn't taken place? Obviously I don't know if you have such a thing but you can leave parcels for collection in a "Safe place" on your property such as a porch or out-building. If RM really will only come every other day, which is what three times a week roughly works out at, you can get 'round that be extending your dispatch time, though the longest it can be is now three days. You're still stuffed as regards very large items but we all are.

Thank you but NONE of that is made clear when listing ... So let's say I opt for Royal Mail, something sells for £550, buyer chooses TRACKED 48, which has cover up to £150 from the Royal Mail, who reimburses me the £550 if it goes missing ?

Yep, eBay the great, has become eBay the ridiculous.

Ebay covers for a higher value using Simple Delivery than standard RM.
Also there is seller protection where ebay handles issues and makes refunds, for lost items or damaged in transit ones.
All this information is available on the site using the help search function.

Initially there was confusion about the compensation arrangements but it has now been clarified that e-Bay cover things to £750 whatever the carrier themselves offer.

Ebay reimburse the buyer if the item is undelivered or is damaged in transit.
The money the buyer has paid is released to you.

However, E-Bay are refusing to update their T's & C's to say that.
In law, the T's & C's would most often take priority and E-Bay could refuse to make a refund (as per their T's & C's) and at the same time make a 'discretionary' refund (i.e. not covered by T's and C's but some AI/person making a decision) on two identical cases, that's a situation that is unacceptable as no seller would actually know where they stand and be at the 'whim' of the decision maker maybe having a 'generous' day.
Only the T's & C's can be relied upon to reflect 'policy', everything else is 'marketing' (my phraseology) speak.

WELL SAID.
I had my first experience of 'simple delivery' today. And it was anything but simple.
It's a ridiculous and completely unnecessary change in ebay postage system.
If it wasn't broke, why 'fix' it?

Evri is totally terrible. Completely incompetent and routinely loses people's packages, or damages them. And you can't complain to them as all their contact methods or automated... no humans, other than the obviously illegal immigrants delivery drivers, that they pay less than minimum wages, seem to work for that company.

Items are protected against loss or damage from the moment they are scanned into the courier’s delivery network until they are marked as delivered by the courier. There’s also no need to call the courier or customer support. In the event that a buyer raises a claim for an issue that occurs during transit, you won’t be held responsible. Even fragile items are protected when you follow our packaging guidance.
There’s no cover limit for eligible items with Simple Delivery. They’re fully protected for the amount they were sold for on eBay providing you post the item using the prepaid Simple Delivery label provided, comply with the eBay delivery Terms and Conditions, and properly package the item.

I only post with Royal Mail.
However, I have had many items delivered to me by Evri and have never personally had an issue with an Evri delivery or an Evri delivery driver.
03-07-2025 4:32 PM
I will now only list items that I can send via RM.... which is now standard Letter post...which isn't yet subject to SimpDel....

You need to read the E-Bay terms.......
The relevant carrier terms are set out in the Annex to these Terms (“Carrier Terms”). By using the Services, you acknowledge and agree that the relevant Carrier Terms shall apply to you as well as any items that buyers purchase from you for delivery through the Services. Subject to the above on “Applicability of the eBay User Agreement”, in the event of any conflict or inconsistency between these Terms and the Carrier Terms, these Terms will control.
Then....
eBay’s third party carriers for the Simple Delivery Services includes Royal Mail and Evri. Please see the links below for their applicable terms and privacy notices for the Services.
Royal Mail terms:
Evri terms:
Now, after reading all that, do you understand why, according to their own T's & C's, there have et outs for pretty much everything.
That's why I've asked them, numerous times, to update their T's & C's so that the difference in their 'marketing' speak and what the T's & C's say in some detail is actually addressed, yet thus far silence has been the reply.
So, having read the above, please tell me where you think this post is incorrect, I've been asking E-Bay for three weeks.

'I will continue to relist the items that were listed before you forced this on me, when you had the brilliant option to choose my own courier (Royal Mail) & be able to go to that courier's website & pick from their many delivery options, value options, time options, collection options etc, NONE of which you cover anymore...'
Exactly. A couple of options from RM, and/or the dreadful Evri. No private seller used to selecting their own postage methods (and pricing) can be expected to be happy with this very limited, mandatory choice.
It is a great pity eBay have decided to do go down this Simple Delivery road... many of us will not be going with them.

hi there,
well the postvan is on Mondays, Thursday and Friday's for us, sometimes hes not there because its broke-down (no spare vans) or no-one to cover (they run a skeleton crew) . It is always busy and usally quite full when it comes to us in the afternoon. It support atleast 6-7 villages.
As for booking a collection - well thats not great either; we have such varried delivery times now. We would probably end up waiting all day for a collection.
So for us, InPost was another good thing. We have some lockers only 5 minutes walk from us, which we can bung things in, especially over the weekend or Tuesdays/Wednesdays. However SD has done away with that option.
We also have a coop at the end of the road which take DPD - for those more expensive / fragile parcels. Again SD has done away with that option too.
Nearest EVRi is 20 minues in a car (in any direction / one way) - so not a good option for us. Postvan doesnt take EVRi either - I did ask him about that a few weeks ago.
ebay should just of left custom-postage as an option.
