Is it true that private sellers will now only be paid AFTER the customer has filed positive feedback?
What happens with lazy buyers who don't bother posting feedback? Do sellers have to wait 30 days for their money just in case a complaint is filed?
It's an ugly scenario if sellers have to pester and beg buyers to post positive praise. They might find themselves manipulated into giving undeserved refunds just to receive money they are fairly owed. What's more, if a customer experiences buyers remorse, they can just withhold feedback and demand to return it a few days later, knowing Ebay is withholding the payment.
I buy and sell rare obscure books. I think it's very likely that a customer might buy a very rare book from me because they want to read it or republish it - then not file feedback while they read it and photocopy it - then demand to return it. I'll end up becoming a lending library making zero money.

Feedback is only important if you sell items under a value of £10 then if the buyers leave feedback it releases the payout sooner, after 2 days.
Otherwise tracking is needed to show delivery then payout is released 2 days after that date. With no tracking the payouts are held for 14 days before release.

Ah, thanks for the clarification!
I send EVERYTHING by registered mail. I love Royal Mail but even they have the odd dodgy employee.

I think the feedback only pertains to items under £10.
Otherwise, the payment is made either 2 days after confirmation of delivery, for tracked items, and 14 days after the last date for delivery, decided by eBay, for untracked items and for items where the tracking has not updated.
That's my understanding, anyway, and I had a payment moved from total payments to accessible payment for an item send 6th and delivered 8th, made available on the morning of the 10th of February. Untracked items are showing payment release between 20th and 24th February.
Hope that helps.

Hello Kitten,
Private sellers will be paid;
1. 2 days after their *tracked* parcel is delivered (delivery notification)
2. 2 days after pos feedback is left for an *untracked* parcel that is under £10.00 in value (but this will only come in after the 28th Feb)
3. 14 days after untracked parcel is posted, or tracked parcel doesn't get delivery notification
4. at least 30 days (!) if a sale is 'in dispute' . Dispute being non-delivery or not as described.
If you're *not* using 'Simple Delivery', and a parcel doesn't arrive , you, the seller will make the refund, so you won't see your money at all. You get it back by claiming from the delivery company... as you'd have to do now.
If you are using Simple Delivery, ebay, *not* the seller, will do non-delivery refunds and the seller will get to keep their money but it'll probably take 30 days to sort that out. (Simple delivery and not-as -described disputes are a bit of a mystery to me at the mo...😶) Within Simple Delivery, ebay will, apparently, take responsibility for 'damages in the post' as well....

Only about a third of buyers now leave feedback , years ago it was over 80% , this is ebays fault for not relising how small sellers value feedback and also unlike their competitors in failing to implement automated positive feedback a week or so later after each transaction , totally ridiculous relying on buyers feedback .

Yes, this 'generous concession' made by greedbay that once the buyer leaves feedback for untracked items under £10 the sellers money will be released after two days, is virtually worthless and they know it. The majority of buyers do not leave feedback and so they will continue to hold the sellers funds for the full 14 days.
That this development is posted at all as some kind of 'gift' from ebay baffles me, it is worthless, meaningless, will rarely release private sellers funds and might as well be ignored as the knowingly useless development that it is.
Sorry for the mini-rant but ebay does nothing unless it benefits them as they try the impossible task of satisfying their greed.

The thread posted in 'Buying' seems to confirm the growing disinclination to leave feedback, which is a shame.

It would have been so easy for ebay to run off a report detailing how many buyers leave feedback for private sellers, and, once revealed how few buyers leave feedback announce this wonderful gift to private sellers in the sure and certain knowledge that they WOULD still benefit from holding the majority of private sellers money for the full 14 days.

Ebay has become very ruthless in terms of exsanguinating all that it possibly can from sellers. They've made billions on the work of others and now they're trying to treat them like galley slaves.
I now deal direct with overseas buyers and am considering selling to UK sellers elsewhere. Ebay is just too greedy, too inflexible, too controlling.

Good word AND a good observation, it really does feel like eBay are trying to get blood out of a stone!

I love the way sellers expose their contempt for the people facilitate their sales on these boards.
Lazy if you don't leave feedback?
Royal Mail are dodgy?
Wonderful attitude. Bravo.

It now makes sense to switch from untracked to tracked and let the buyer pay for that. I don't think I'll be able to sell anything under this insane regime.

Agreed. This is precisely why these people can only make money by hanging off the back of a greedy, bloated, American organisation like these. They think it is the buyer's job to help them further their business interests with said greedy, bloated, American organisation.
No buyer owes you anything other than the selling price. Entitled, much?
