Over the years a lot of things have changed on eBay and I have to agree that simple delivery is the worst and it's why I've had enough of this corporate bullying. I honestly thought that having the custom and advanced delivery options to opt out of eBay imposed simple delivery and being able to continue using Royal Mail Tracked 48 would continue - but now they have removed that!
I don't have a printer and for 10 years have hand written my labels and taken my packages to the post office to be weighed and posted but it looks like that's now gone. I don't have a smartphone and I don't think I can continue. I don't want anything to do with Evri who throw parcels over the garden wall and leave them on doorsteps - sometimes not even my doorstep. I think eBay have made really bad changes with buyer protection fees and simple delivery.

you can have royal mail collect and bring the postage label with them

Thanks for your message.
Do sellers have to declare the exact weight for a Royal Mail produced label?
I honestly have no idea what to do now I can't go to the post office with the package and post it Royal Mail Tracked 48. That was what I considered 'simple delivery' with no printer or smartphone involved.

When you list an item ebay will (probably*) estimate the weight and size of the item packaged up, e.g. Medium Parcel, up to 2kg.
If that's wrong, you correct it e.g. change (select) to up to 10kg. (*) If ebay can't guess you select the size and weight. There are various predefined options, you choose one. You don't enter the exact weight to the gram nor size to the cm (unless you want to opt out for eligible items).
If you used the ebay estimate, even if the packaged item is bigger/heavier then the label is still valid.
If you changed the ebay estimate, to a smaller/lighter i.e. cheaper option; and packaged item is bigger or heavier, then AFAIK you can't do anything about it with Royal Mail/Evri/at the Post Office but ebay may i.e. later charge you the excess plus £1.
It's possible that ebay have or will convert listings created without SD to using SD, and estimated the weight and size at the time.
There is more info on getting the label on the thread below. RM bringing a label has only been possible for about 10 days, so the earlier messages are of limited relevance.

Isn't it just the worst. By far the most evasive move with little gain in my opinion.
WHY OH WHY did they only decide to have 2 couriers.

Yes, and one of the courier companies is untrustworthy in my experience. I've lost count of Evri parcels left on doorsteps (not always at my address!) and being thrown over the wall and damaged. Contacting Evri Customer Services gets you nowhere as they tell you to take it up with the seller. It isn't a trustworthy service and I cringe when I see something I've bought is being sent by this company of people using their own vehicles and desperate to 'deliver' the package. Simple Delivery is a terrible change and buyer protection fees is a money making pretend insurance you can't opt out of. It looks like eBay is bullying people blatantly now. I don't want anything to do with Evri.

'WHY OH WHY did they only decide to have 2 couriers. '

Because they really only wanted one ; Evri. And to be in partnership with them.
But R.M. is the only completely nationwide delivery service. (R.M. is contracted to do all the fiddly bits of the UK: Highlands and Islands etc. that other delivery companies can't be bothered with)
So R.M has to be available for buyers and sellers in places that Evri thinks are too unprofitable...
