More on Buyer protection scam

Listed 2 items virtually identical today - one got put up with Buyer Protection fee and one didnt - big congrats to eBay for making more of a mess than they have done already.

Refunds - given that either the combined shipping option has glitches and sometimes does not work for some of my customers and I get told that its not available on the mobile app today I had a new discovery. normally I would refund a customer if they could not get combined shipping to work. Now I realise that not only do I have to wait for approx. 5 days to get my money that is assuming royal mail dont mess it up or ebay don't introduce another scam tax but i also have to pay the refund out of my own money and pay the postage before I have even seen any funds.

Imagine going to the supermarket and telling Tescos that you will pay them in 5 days once you have checked all the goods and made sure that your satisfied - nowhere else in the world does this happen and its all just so that ebay can say its free to sell (even though it isnt - just a reversal of fees) ultimately resulting in sellers lowering prices or accepting offers to stay competative  - its the biggest and most disgusting scam I have seen any company pull in years.

This one has really wound me up after 15 years of selling on Ebay this one makes me want to Vomit.

Withdraw all available funds before making any refund / postage payment.  When the refund or payment goes through then it forces the Ebay balance negative (provided there are pending funds).

However the next payment from your pending funds will be offset against the negative balance - rather than the specific order .

If you only get a few orders then this is worth doing - if you get daily payouts from pending funds then it really depends on values  whether it's worth the effort - but  at least they won't be using your available funds.
