Listing fees

Accepted an offer for a car I was selling, then the buyer realised I wasn't 40 mins away, when we spoke. EBay had got my location completely wrong, even though they had my postcode. Buyer decided to cancel the transaction as a result. EBay have charged me again to relist the item. Surely that's not right. The automated chat is as much use as a chocolate fire guard. Please help

Re: Listing fees

The location shown in your ad's is not the only 1 in the UK,i know of at least 11 others.

Might be worth saying where you are located in the ad.

Putting a phone number in a listing can get an ad removed.

Re: Listing fees

You could try to get a fee credit, they can only say no.

I’ve found that the easiest route to contact eBay Customer Services is via the link below, you can request a call back:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/eua?id=5275&mkevt=1&mkpid

Just for future reference - the cheapest and best format to sell a vehicle on is an eBay Classified Ad. This also cuts out the time wasters and non-payers.

A Classified Ad costs £19.99 and there are no final value fees if you sell your item.

Your listing runs for 30 days, during which you can arrange for potential buyers to view your item, you can then end it once paid. You can accept offers too (you don't accept the offer until the buyer has been to view first).

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/classified.html

If you decide instead to list in auction format or fixed price Buy It Now it will cost £14.99 for your listing, and that fee is payable even if your item doesn't sell or you end up with a non-payer, and if you sell your item, there are final value fees of 1% of the final transaction (min. £25, max. £45)

Re: Listing fees

OP, when I look at your listings I just see "Whitchurch UK" for location. Clicking on it takes me to a map showing Whitchurch to be just North of Winchester.

But when I look at some of the listings I am watching, for things that are not even collection only, I can often see a postcode included in the location. Is your postcode missing from your details somewhere?

As has been said, include location with postcode in the description.

Re: Listing fees

Thanks for replies everyone. To answer a few.

my details are correct in my account, ie home address listed as Shropshire.
in the ad, delivery and collection post code is sy13(Shropshire), is eBay's geolocation actually that bad.
is there any way I can get the relist fee refunded, given that this is an eBay *bleep* up

I gave you a link to contact eBay in post #3.

Re: Listing fees

There is a Whitchurch down the road from us in Bristol so, buyers who are too thick to confirm apart, that isn't good enough. I'd always include a postcode / give ebay the postcode rather than name unless it is very unique, suppose there is only one 'Westward Ho!'.
