Simple delivery is a disaster for me and very unclear in the messaging on the App. Booked a collection the text says "Book courier collection for free - no printer required." In the box for collection...I just waited 35 minutes to "speak to an agent 2 minutes". No response. I've just looked at the RM details...they say a label isn't included ...so which is correct? Simple delivery makes it really difficult to see the dimensions the postage covers after the sale. This is a really unhelpful change to Ebay ...please bring back custom postage.

Collection is available with Simple Delivery through Royal Mail so if starting from scratch it's best to opt out of using Evri here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf
to ensure RM is selected by the buyer. Once your item is sold and after you've generated a prepaid label on eBay you book your collection on the Royal Mail website.
Also meant to say if you don't have a printer just select their "Bring my label" option when booking your collection online or via their app, and your postie will bring your labels to you.

It's now looks as if it's even easier than that, this is what you get when you go to print the label.

Thanks for responding. I had limited couriers to RM. What I was recording was that he collections box on Ebay Simple Delivery says "Book courier collection for free - no printer required." Which isn't true...a label is required to be printed at home. Unless you pay the additional RM fee quite separately for collection and ask them to print a label. The Ebay Simple Delibery collection ....is in fact "print your label at home.. printer required". Thats why I posted 🌷 it is incorrect and misleading.

Yes, you do have to pay the RM fee, think it's 30p.

From:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sellercentre/postage/simple-delivery
It's flagged as 'new', so, you should now be able to book the collection and ask them to bring a label. There is no 30p charge if using SD/collection.

The RM collection confirmation generated by Simple Delivery states "print at home"

As this shows the collection generated via Simple Delivery ...does not come with a label it is "print at home" ...

This is what I’m confused about as well. It says book a collection no printer required but it IS required. As you said there is a 30p charge and you need to select it which you can’t do with eBay’s simple delivery. It’s actually bizarre how bad this new system is

I had the second of something sell this weekend and because SD is now mandatory the person paid double the previous postage and no adjustments possible. Plus packing must now be included in the item price. Not a good change for private sellers or their customers. Thanks for the solidarity 🥰

You can now book a Royal Mail collection when you generate the label at no cost; for my first few SD sales I had to get the label, then go to the RM web-site to book, and pay for, a collection. More recently I haven't.
As for them bringing the label I haven't sold anything since that's supposed to have been an option so can't comment on it.

Yes you can book collection though it is delayed and not next day as it would be if you did it direct. Something private sellers are rated on. The Ebsy site says no need for a printer IN the collections box...this is not correct. Hence my post. The RM confirmation says "print at home"

It's over a week since I sold anything and Simple Delivery is constantly changing. There have been various statements that RM will NOW bring a label, eg from https://www.ebay.co.uk/sellercentre/postage/simple-delivery:—
Yes. You can book a home collection when generating your prepaid label directly through eBay. The label will be brought to you when your item is being collected. Plus, there’s no extra fee for collection when you book through eBay. If you need your sold items to be collected, make sure Royal Mail is the only courier selected as your preferred courier.
Of course what should happen and what does are not necessarily the same thing.
As for delays in collections most of mine booked through e-Bay have been next day. However I think they have an earlier cut-off time than RM. I start, and therefore end, auctions at half-past seven and if somebody pays quick the sold item has been collected next day. If they don't pay for a few hours, say after ten o'clock, then there will be one clear day before collection whereas when using the RM web-site it can be booked up to mid-night. I set my Handling Time to two days so am within that either way.

My experience of no label via collection on Simple Delivery is accurate up to yesterday 🌸
Mine are listed Buy it Now ...items sold Friday...I had to wait for Monday collection when others were ready to go Saturday...it's just more inefficient and the delay impacts me and traps me for 2 days rather than one (broken leg and have to hover by the door on crutches) Ann

Fair enough. It's still in such a state of flux that you never know what it'll do.
I'm not quite sure if you are saying you sold things on Friday and had to wait 'til Monday before they were collected despite having other things collected on Saturday. If so the postman could have taken them all on Saturday. The confirmation e-mails Royal Mail send say that if you've booked a collection you can add other items to it. For all they don't explicitly say it you don't pay for the subsequent items if you've paid the 30p for the initial collection on the RM site, not that that's relevant if it's booked through e-Bay as it's free anyway.
If I have understood you correctly I wouldn't have bothered booking a collection for Friday's sales and simply added them to the ones already booked for collection on Saturday.

They can't bring you a label for a 3kg small parcel to China. Simple delivery only does up to 2kg (when Royal Mail offers up to 5kg for Tracked & Signed) and forces you to use a more expensive parcel rate.
08-07-2025 8:32 PM
It's not bizarre at all. This is the new ebay. It's deliberate sabotage.
08-07-2025 8:34 PM
Exactly, sellers cannot even refund the overcharges and are expected to lose out when Simple Delivery undercharges for postage. You are compelled to lie about the size and weight of the parcel to make it fair to the buyer and to you.
12-07-2025 12:51 PM
"sellers ... are expected to lose out when Simple Delivery undercharges for postage."
in what scenario?
If ebay choose the postage band it's valid (except for prohibited or over maximum weight/size items).
(If you've selected the postage band, then presumably you've selected the correct one.)
12-07-2025 1:10 PM
The undercharging ..would relate to the quality of the courier you choose to use and the lack of collection fee from Royal mail, lack of packing element in postage and more .....
