I’ve recently sold an item and been asked to update my bank details on the eBay app and notified by email. I did so and nothing happened but the request was still there. Submitted a second time and still saying not verified/needs updating. Checked my bank account and £8.50 has been debited. Both times a DD instruction has been set up, what is going on and when will my funds be released?

New sellers usually have to wait 30 days for payments to be released. It's best to use a desktop if possible for anything more complicated than normal.
You can contact ebay and ask them to check the status of your account. You can request a callback on here:

Did you add a Reserve to your watch auction listing that ended 17th May?
You'd be charged for that upgrade.

It doesn't look like a reserve fee as the reserve price would have needed to have been around £212.50 (which doesn't seem likely). I'm guessing it was for the shipping label to get the item to the authenticator.

It is now only new business sellers that are automatically subject to a 30 day payout hold. However, the guidance also states:
"The authentication process may lead to transaction holds for up to 30 days until the authenticity of items sold with eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee can be confirmed"

Is the bank account you are trying to verify registered in exactly the same name as the name that appears in your eBay account? For example, "Mr S. Body" would not match "Mr. Some Body".
It is probably also worth pointing out that you have crossed the ~£1,700 digital sales reporting threshold. At some point eBay are going to request your National Insurance Number and will likely withhold any payouts until it has been provided.
