You may opt out of Simple Delivery when you create your listing

The buyer still pays for the postage (unless you're offering free P&P).

Interesting choice of areas that have no express delivery options. Inverness I might get at a pinch, but Glasgow and Edinburgh (in fact the EH postcode covers East Lothian, Mid Lothian and West Lothian). Obviously we are in the back of beyond. Who knew?

I suspect that ebay's new buyer fee they will introduce next year will be something like Amazon Prime where they can then offer to send listings with Simple Delivery enabled (like Prime items) for no postage charge to the buyer.

It is going to be mandatory in Q1 2025 for clothing apparently. At least for private sellers.
I can't imagine ebay is going to get the postage right, for bundles for example.

I wouldn't trust 3Bay to look after a stick insect for a week so this is going to be a disaster

The CEO says it's going to mandatory for all private sellers in 2025, regardless of category.

Well, that probably will be the end of me, then.

The buyer will pay - the payment will go directly to Ebay, like payments for Ebay GSP so the postage amount will not go through your account.

A bit like returns where the price is somewhere between a large packet and small parcel, and I assume either negotiated or ebay pay by the gram post-hoc and make on some and lose on others?
That would be great if it's Royal Mail, you have the choice of collection, shop or locker.
But if forced to use EVRI, and doubly especially if drop off only, I really am out.
I charge a fair price (if any!) for my P+P and RM rarely if ever let me down AND collect from the porch.

My concern is that at the moment I live near a post office which is open long hours and about half my items are Large Letter rate so it makes sense to put nearly everything via Royal Mail to avoid multiple dropoffs.
It's only on occasion that I will use an alternative carrier for an oversized or overweight item when I tend to use Yodel as that's an easy dropoff. Now if their simple delivery partner is Evri that's really inconvenient for me. I'm busy holding down a full time job and looking after young kids so don't have time to regularly do multiple dropoff locations each morning and it will cost more in petrol.
