Confusion over postage

I'm totally confused about using ebay's Simple Delivery system and the postage cost for the item being sent. Similar items I have sent before have cost about £6 to send, Ebay suggests slightly over £4. Is that price fixed, and if so who pays the extra at the post office.

Confusion over postage

Simple Delivery 'decides' what postage size/weight/price is correct for your item, so it is ok to use the postage label, even if the item is bigger/heavier, and would cost more to send 'normally'.

If you change the Simple Delivery recommended size/weight option in your listing, and choose the wrong option, then eBay says you may be responsible for the extra postage costs:-

'If you don’t use the parcel size that was recommended when you created your listing, and your item exceeds the maximum size and weight of the label, you may be responsible for the extra costs to send your item. This includes the cost difference between the parcel sizes and an administration fee of £1, including VAT.'

See this about the size and weight - https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/posting-items/setting-postage-options/simple-delivery?id=5575#se...

and the rest of the page in general.

No-one pays extra at the post office (or Evri point)

Confusion over postage

I sold an item recently on my other account. Postage was with RM and was set at £3.38 by ebay, when I received the email from ebay telling me it sold, it said postage paid by buyer was £2.88, who pays the extra 50p?

What you are seeing there is the net price before VAT is added, although £2.88 + VAT = £3.45 not £3.38.  £3.45 would be the non Simple Delivery price for Royal Mail Tracked 48.  Wax it definitely Simple Delivery?

Yeah, for some reason my RM simple delivery postage is £3.38 48hr tracked.

Thanks for the explanation btw, I didn't think of the VAT.
