Whats with the Ebay ripoff postage costs?

Just went to list an item which normally would cost a buyer £3.55 or so and now Ebay are charging the buyer £4.48?? I checked RM website and the cost hasn't risen so why are Ebay hiking the postage cost?

If you've opted out of Evri ebay will charge more for RM and vice versa.   Also check the parcel size and weight are correct during the listing or revising process.

Whats with the Ebay ripoff postage costs?

Hi Peaseblossom, I have no choice but to not use Evri as they don't pick up from my home address with me being up in the Scottish Highlands. I haven't opted out of them but i just don't use them. They used to pick up when they were Hermes but i was required to give them 3 days notice and stuff wasn't getting picked up until 4-5 days afterwards, if at all, which is no use when i state i will ship items within 2 working days. I often had to phone them to remind them about my parcel pickup too. For today's parcel I chose the 2kg rate for Royal Mail which is normally round the £3.50 (£3.38) but it definitely showed me £4.48. I just listed another 2kg item, same specs and it went through with £3.38 postage so what's happening here?

Ebay only have one Simple Delivery cost of £4.48 for a  label. It means you have "Royal Mail only" selected, the item sold for over £100 and eBay have "guessed" it is a 1-2kg Small Parcel. This information can be found under "Courier and Postage Rates" in the FAQs section on this page.

Note that if you had sent the item yourself as a Small Parcel via Tracked 48 (£3.55 if 1kg or less) the maximum compensation cover for loss or damage from Royal Mail on Tracked services is now £75. Using the Simple Delivery label you are covered for the full sale amount by eBay should the item be lost or damaged in transit.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

I don't know why that happened.  I'm not seeing £4.48 as a Royal Mail rate.

You're lucky not to get someone selecting Evri if you haven't opted out.   You can do that here if you like:

You need to scroll down to the "For items sold above £100" section:

I'm guessing the £3.38-label item sold for less than £100?
