The new Ebay controlled delivery for private Sellers becomes compulsory on April 15th, Ebay will remove the opt out option.
I won't re-hash the many negatives for Sellers around the cost and delayed payments.
For me the final straw is that the Seller with have to package up the item to weigh and measure it before listing as there is no way of altering or cancelling the postage label once the listing is generated.
22 years with Ebay, this is by far the worst thing they have ever done. So long Ebay, I hope your Business Sellers make you the money you need, because you are killing your Private Seller market.

The most sinister aspect for me, is that Ebay are shouting "Full Protection" without any caveats. You have to delve into the info pages, whereupon you find that you have to comply with the relevant carriers terms and conditions. Most things are not covered by insurance on the Evri network! And it is up to the seller to find out what is and what isnt. As the buyer can choose which delivery method they want, Special Delivery only is presumably out and as jewellery is not covered by Evri or any other postal service through royal mail..... This is just one example. Electronics dont seem to be covered by Evri, so that expensive piece of equipment you are upgrading? Forget reselling that, as if it went by Evri and its lost, you're out of pocket. This is a total joke and just more disingenuous wool over eyes pulling in a more and more tiresome trail of control over sellers by Ebay.
You now need a doctorate in order to swerve through the minefield. Even then who can be arsed? Your average private seller just wont have any idea.
I listed an old fridge on Facebook Marketplace yesterday. Reminded me of the personals ads you used to put in the newspaper. Oh for the simple days

Gloabl shipping appears to be not working, it's saying contact seller for a postage quote where it used to show an actual price, so I guess thats been temporarily switched off? I guess its so that we cant check and see how much prices are going to skyrocket for global shipping with ebays new controlling simple delivery.
Even if you untick evri it says prepaid royal mail or evri label will be provided and apparently theres a get out clause for ebay so they can force evri if they want.
The buyer will be paying the fee on the postage rates as well, and additionally its more pricey. For example instead of £3.39 tracked 48 its £3.74 for a very basic service. Someone else was saying a £6 service is now £10+ via simple delivery.
And sellers now cannot include their packaging costs in the postage and packaging cost meaning all prices will increase to compensate for this too. I don't think any of us are going to be given packaging and fuel supplies for free but notice how p&p has suddenly become a postage-only fee. As if sellers can magically absorb those costs and they arent considered anymore.
Ebay is literally cloneing vinted, they have them feeling SO threatened its insane. A platform thats been around for decades scared into changing their entire business model and running members off the site to copy a second hand clothing app.

And weirdly it's showing £3.74 for simple delivery but charging the buyer £4.80...for a small parcel...that you could pay £3.36 via tracked 48 for -_-

That’s answered my question then.
I currently offer free postage on most of my listings.
i use Royal Mail 48 hour service that costs £3.39 (tracked and insured to £150).
Postman collects and brings a label with them.
if I can’t do above then I will delist what I have left for sale.
i will now use Facebook groups to sell coins, local auctions and for future sales of gold coins go via a bullion dealer.

THIS IS THE POINT AT WHICH EBID WILL FINALLY BECOME A VIABLE ALTERNATIVE TO EBAY.
BRING IT ON !

The cost seems to increase with the value of the item. So that's Ebay insuring it?
