Just endless watchers?
I have even factored in the buyer protection fee to my items. Can’t sell anything, not even at rock bottom prices?
I currently have a few items for sale and nothing? Not even an enquiry?
People can’t be that broke? Seller protection has killed eBay?
What’s going on?
Solved! Go to Solution.

I don't have a problem with ebay getting paid to run a platform that is useful in connecting buyers and sellers and even the amount doesn't seem unreasonable provided people don't start paying for extras.
I do have a problem with the disingenuous way they call it a 'protection' fee as it's insulting to established sellers, alarming to buyers and it's mostly just to cover the cost of them running their business.
I also have a problem when they say 'its free to sell' when there is a hidden cost to the seller of having to price the item for less than it's worth to be able to sell for what it's worth including the fee.
It should be called a platform fee, marketplace fee, etc and the seller should be given the option to pay it themselves from their item proceeds in the same way they can choose to pay for postage which ebay then dishonestly tell the buyer is 'free' when in truth it's just 'included' in the price they see.
Ebay need to drop the doublespeak as we are not stupid and it just makes it looks like they have a very low opinion of their users and are either naïve enough to think we don't know or are just happy to show it.

August is always very quiet with people away on holiday. Should pick up after the schools reopen.

hmm, did list my item before August. What’s a holiday? 😩😂

Join the throng.
Think of it from buyers point of view.
Too many business sellers posting stuff at outrageous prices to try to catch the odd sucker.
No cheap stuff since private sellers have taken away their cheap bargains because Buyers Protection and Simple Delivery add massively to the price buyers have to pay for cheap items and slashes the return private sellers get.
Ebay no longer a fun or even a pleasant place to hang out.
Small sellers thoroughly fed up clawing their way round eBay obstacles and taking a break.
Don't bother Promoting your items, there's no one here to look at them.
It's lovely and sunny outside and the kids are home on holiday.
Do what so many are doing. Take a break and come back to see what it's like in November.

lol, haven't a clue.

Most of your items were listed in the last fortnight, so you're going to have to be more patient. Since you're new to selling, it is worth checking that the basics are there while you wait. Since you buy as well you know what to look for. For example I think your Arctis headset would sell faster if you also had 'headphones' in the title. (When making a title put the most important words first.) Also are the photos clear about details? And does the description say everything I would want to know before making a big purchase?
To get an idea of what is a reasonable amount of time to wait for a sale, search for your item, then tick 'Completed' on the bottom left. You can see how many sold in the last 3-months, and for what prices.
When I did this here is what I noticed:
Mixer - 5 listed, average sale of 6 per month (auction sales starting at 20% of your price). Your price is moderate, and this should sell easily.
Rekordbox - 9 listed, average sale of 2 per month. Your price is good, you'll just have to be patient.
Also sales should pick up after August holidays are over. Good luck with your selling!

I cancelled all my promotions the day they announced I'd be charged a commission on any sale where anybody had seen (or maybe it was clicked) an ad for that item within the past 30 days - so it didn't even have to be the person who bought it, meaning the ad had no bearing on the sale. Utterly ridiculous.

Thanks, was not aware you could look at my listings. 👌
As you looked you know which item I am referring to here.
The Arctis is not headphones, It’s a gaming headset and it is in the tittle buddy. (i tired putting it at the start but as I sent an offer to a watcher I can’t change it)
Edit; what else would you want to know?
Thanks
Am I new to selling?
Never knew there was a completed button is this on the app? Will have to check that.
Wow i sure wish I knew what this holiday stuff is about… 😩
Do appreciate input, I won’t lower my prices anymore more..

Thanks for input I am just selling a dj mixer and a couple of items, I had sat around. I am not a business seller. But I understand the sentiment.

Private seller here, definitely will not be promoting my item lol 😂 But understand the point of view.

Ps if it should sell easily then why is it not? Why are they just watching? It’s because of buyer protection.. I even sent an offer and noticed it slaps buyer protection on top.., So we have to factor that nonsense into the price even via offers.. People can’t be broke, If they can afford holidays a Tesla. It’s the buyer protection it makes everything more expensive.. . lol rant over.

August is a usually a quiet month for sales for me but beginning to pick-up. Great for buyers actually on auction sales. Sales to the US are virtually 0 in the past few months on the bigger ticket listings + the buyer protection fee is not helping at all. Last year, sales ramped up in September and died down in December. Seems as if the buyers were buying early for x-mas.

P.S. The headset - headphones recommendation was just from looking at how other Sellers list that same item, and what Buyers might do... but you're right to stick to the facts!
Watchers don't mean anything, just ignore them. Buyers are what matter.
Yes, I agree that lowering your prices is not necessarily the solution. And that you clearly do not need a Business Account.
If you want to learn about sell-thru rates, which is how you can get a reasonable idea of how long you will need to be patient at the right price then Justin Resells has good free videos on YouTube (I am not affiliated, and other eBay related videos are available ; )

My rule of thumb is about 1 sale a day when I have 200 listings. I have around 150 at the moment (as I have been listing some items elsewhere since SD) so am now seeing a lower rate. Either way that suggests it's taking around 200 days for me to sell each item on average so if you have 5 items then a sale every 40 days might be reasonable assuming you are not selling desirable / red-hot items or too cheaply.
If you really want an item to sell fast start it as a low value auction but you might get less than it's worth in return for the convenience of it selling quickly.
Sometimes it's not about the price it's just waiting for the right buyer to come along who wants the item enough to buy it and has no better choices from other sellers etc.

Cheers I don’t really want to sell fast. It can live in its box. But I would like to sell it at some point for a fair price which I think is what I have listed already. I have had to factor in the idiotic buyer protection fee to round the figure down to 499. Which means I lose even more. Tbh this post is 100 percent a rant about buyer protection and how much of a con it is. 😂 They are taking the p!ss
in the interest of not getting banned. Enough said.

blame those sellers who sell every item under the sun but use a price range - eg you search for curtains and someone is selling within a price range at 10p to £200 just so they can get to the top of the listings based on cheapest item, but then if you choose the 10p option you will notice that it is not for curtains at all it is for something silly like a screw or a 1cm sample - it's pure deciet, predatory, immoral, trickery..call it what you will but it is WRONG, you cannot get rid of these price range manipulators, so if I search for anything and sort by the cheapest 'buy now' then I just get pages and pages of liars all trying to outdo each other just to get to the top without actually selling that product at the price they advertise - and the seller who does have the cheapest price and is honest and not manipulating search results simply cannot be found
!!!

Yeah that's totally wrong especially when the listing title and main photo reflect the higher price item but sadly it works for those sellers and so other sellers join in and ebay don't seem to do anything about it. I don't buy from those seller on principle but on average it's probably still a winning strategy.
I can't even see the button to report listings anymore ebay seem to have hidden it somewhere as they just want to run a platform with bad listings and not be bothered by anyone that cares when rules are broken. Reporting listings that are blatantly in violation of a rule was pointless anyway as the AI would usually reply saying they are fine.
All the signs are that ebay don't care anymore it's just about money. We should take the hint.

Similar situation, endless watchers and few buyers even when sending out ridiculously low offers.
Yet another newbie decided to cancel an order within half an hour of purchasing last night, I am seeing more and more of this.
I have now pulled the plug on my listings for the time being after becoming disillusioned with the whole buying and selling experience. I have spent £10 last month and zero this month on this platform as appose to spending several hundreds in previous months. I do not need the extra cash that my sales WERE generating months ago, which did go towards buying other things on the platform. I am one of the lucky ones I guess in that I can take it or leave it, and for now, I will leave it!!

I have an eBay shop. Sales have dropped in past few month, but this August has been the worst since I started selling. But generally sales have dropped in our our platforms.
