Who authorises ‘authentic’ items

Hi, recently bought some 2nd hand  asics trainers.
The trainers were defective in that the sole came apart from the shoe straight  away. I have worn many pairs of asics and they have worn exceptionally well and I’ve never encountered this before. I can only imagine they were maybe put in a hot machine wash cycle but they were fundamentally not fit for purchase. I have requested information regarding who authenticated the shoes and how they were authenticated, but have no response. Assume it was the sellers as they looked great in photos. Can anyone help get to the bottom of this.

Did the trainers go through Ebay authentication?

If they were sold with the authentication guarantee and had the 'blue tick' then they would have been independently checked to make sure they were genuine and matched the seller's description.

Sellers can't authenticate their own items.

Have you started a return through Ebay?

Who authorises ‘authentic’ items

Yes they had apparently gone through that process but clearly whoever had
authenticated, hadn’t properly authenticated a ‘long distance running
shoe’. I had walked in the shoe a couple of times and the sole came apart
from both shoes.
As previously mentioned I have had several pairs of asics which have been
worn so much that the treads have worn out, but the sole has never come
apart from the shoe.
I was also accused of damaging the shoes which is a poor response.
If you’ve sold a dud, and you are a reputable seller, you should just
accept it, refund and move on.
The process calls into question eBay’s authentication process. I have not
been able to get any information on the authentication process or how
qualified the authenticator is.
Thanks for your time
