Unexpected VAT postage fee

Hi Guys,

Wondering if anyone can help?
I have just been charged £69.72 at the post office for VAT on a card which I purchased from the US which cost $429 I have never been charged before and this was not mentioned at anytime. Would appreciate some advice on this matter.

thanks in advance

That's import VAT.  The listing would have mentioned there may be additional charges for international sales.

Import fees are set by our very own HMRC, and are nothing to do with eBay or eBay sellers.

Import VAT is payable on all items imported from outside the UK, and Customs Duty kicks in for items over £135.
