buyer protection

i am a private seller (not a business) but have been charged buyer protection fees on what I've sold. How do I rectify this? Can't seem to find an answer in ebay's system. It tells me that I will not have been charged as a private seller so there is no way I can get a refund. I have been charged!

Sellers do not pay the buyer protection fee, buyers do.   It might look like you're paying but you're not.

It is being deducted from the price paid to me.

I imagine this is the collectiomn of porcelain for which you accepted an offer?

The way that eBy works is that when an offer is made, it includes the cost of eBay's buyer protection.

This is then deducted from the amount paid to the seller. Sellers often mistakenly thing this means they have been chaged for it. In fact, what you were paid is correctly the the seller's share of the offer price.

When a buyer wins an auction, the reverse happens. The buyer protection fee is then added to the price for which the item sold.

No, it's being deducted from the total the buyer pays.
