Advice needed.

Hi, just after some advice.  I messaged a seller to see if the would accept an offer for an item they had listed to bid for.  We came to a price and they accepted and told me to make an offer.  They didn't have the option for me to make an offer, so they have continued with receiving bids.

As they had agreed a sale, should they have cancelled the listing and kept to their agreement?

No.

Once bid is placed all offers are no longer available.

It would be bad selling to cancel an auction with bids, and sell to someone offering higher than the current highest bid.   It disappoints the bidders,  and eBay are not keen on unhappy buyers.

It is correct for the seller to carry on with their auction,  as now no offers can be accepted.

Join the auction,  bid the maximum  price you wished to offer,  and you may be lucky and win it for less!

Many thanks for advice. I was confused. I don’t use Ebay very much.
