Labelling requirements in Spain Starting 1st January 2025

Hi

I'm just wondering whether anyone at Ebay or on the forum can confirm that the new labelling requirements in Spain starting 1st January 2025 is like that of the German packaging act and require all commercial parcels e.g packaging entering the country to be labelled. From what I can tell this is the requirement, but it all reads like legal jargon. https://www.lizenzero.eu/en/blog/packaging-labeling-in-spain/#:~:text=After%201st%20January%202025%2...

What's the punishment for non-compliance? fines, returned parcels etc. Does this also comply with Ebay's global shipping? Will Ebay put the label on, or is that the duty of the seller.

I sell very few parcels to Spain and the amount of time it will take to print a recycling sticker, cut it up and sticker on the parcel probably won't be worth the money. However, unless Ebay puts a warning on the order details page, I doubt I'm going to remember.  I can see people having parcels rejected on mass not only because they're illinformed about the regulation, but they simply forget to put the stickers on.

IS the new rule about putting coloured codes on packaging so the end user knows where to recycle it? It makes you wonder what these bureaucrats do all day?!

I am sure most humans know how to recycle glass, plastics and paper......

There was something on this at the open that I caught the end of.  It might be in one of the recorded sessions.  It was in the main auditorium late morning or early in the afternoon.  EBay appeared to be handling the bulk of the financial impact element for us and have a producer number that needs to go on invoices.  I can't remember which presentation it was in but I've googled and come up with this:

Re: Labelling requirements in Spain Starting 1st January 2025

Thanks @ojewellery  thats really helpful I had missed that.

This is indeed part of the decree mentioned by ebay. I think additionally that business sellers are meant to mark with little colour coded icons where to recycle too eg if you have a cardboard envelope you have the blue colour coded sign.

It would be really helpful of ebay (and I am sure its possible, he says famous last words) that on the packing slip/invoice which currently has IOSS at the foot of the address that they also add the registration number as mentioned in the EPR note.

dave@ebay  - Is this something Ebay would consider, adding the Registration Number: ENV/2023/000034242 etc to the foot under the IOSS info that is currently on all packing slips/invoices?

Re: Labelling requirements in Spain Starting 1st January 2025

I sometimes wonder if ignorance would be bliss.  Yet another eBay school day!

Lizenzero advises that the coloured labels should be 8mm minimum and can be black and white, so long as clearly explained, if colour isn't an option.

For me, I use cardboard so the blue label is relevant.

The four, apparently voluntary graphics, colour images are below.  I don't send that many to Spain so will print a label sheet to keep in my packing supplies drawer but I would have thought a couple of little rubber stamp and coloured ink pads could work well.

This is getting so utterly ridiculous. Registration to Germany for packaging, Something to France, GPSR, stick coloured pictures on packages to Spain...

Re: Labelling requirements in Spain Starting 1st January 2025

Thanks for that. I heard about this back in the summer time through Reclay and assumed it was going to be a carbon copy of the German packaging act. I heard about the stickers thing from an email by Reclay the German licence company a couple of days ago. This is the first time I've heard about having to send an invoice and all the other details etc.

Maybe I've missed something, but I don't recall Ebay sending through any information about this.  I also noticed the "Extended Producer Responsibility selling in Spain" page doesn't mention anything about labelling the parcel with a recycling sticker. Maybe I'm wrong but I can imagine a lot of sellers falling foul of this in the new year and having parcel rejected by the Spanish customs.
