Yet another bizarre issue with eBay. I listed an older $10 USA banknote. After 2 days it was removed saying “we only allow graded products from reputable companies”.
I appealed this saying it was clearly wasn’t a graded note, at no point in anywhere in the listing is the word graded even mentioned. 24 hours later appeal is denied saying they don’t allow graded banknotes from unauthorised companies 🙄.
I phoned up and go through to India CS who ignored everything I said and insisted that graded banknotes are only allowed from authorised companies. There was zero reasoning with her. I suspect strongly that she was unable to communicate in English and was reading off a script as this would be extremely straightforward for anyone who looked at the listing. This is about the 3rd time I’ve had items removed frivolously in past month or some but reasons completely unexplainable.
seriously what is the point in eBay anymore. It’s literally like they have lost all brain cells and are determined to annoy sellers as much as possible.

This is your reason

You seem to have misread the reason they are only allowing certain companies the sell graded notes .
Whether they are correct or not only ebay can answer

And you seem to have not read my post clearly just like eBay never bothered to. It’s not a graded note and never mentions grading. So it’s a false reason to be removed. They made a mistake and refused to admit it

eBay's answer as it reads to me, and I think to @moldosgifts that
a) we only allow graded notes
AND
b) we only allow such notes from reputable companies
It would have been clearer if they had listed it as two separate points, instead of running them together. I can see how it could be read the way you want it to be, but I don't think that's what was intended.
As your note is not a graded note, it can not be listed. Now, I don't know if that is entirely logical, as it's not my area, but it seems pretty clear to me.

Again it’s not clear at all. EBay’s policies does not excludes selling normal notes no. There are literally thousands and we sell hundreds every month no issue.
The main issue here is if you do happen to sell a banknote that IS graded then it MUST be from a reputable company. Which is understandable however that point is not applicable to this circumstance so is irrelevant hence my frustration at eBay not reading the listing.

Your US$1 is described as VF in the title. What had you put for the $10?
Other members often suggest trying to get a call back from CS, soon after they open, to increase the chances of getting someone from Ireland.

It didn’t have a “grade” or even a descriptor world. It just said “1988 United States Of America $10 Dollar Banknote - Older Series”
As for the $1 that only 1 out of lots of listing as it’s nearly mint, but saying VF or “Very Fine” isn’t a grade. It’s a descriptor word. Grades from companies are given on a scale of 1 to 70 with 1 being atrocious and 70 being absolutely pristine, and any of my graded coins or notes clearly state that but this one didn’t. Utterly bizarre and eBay’s blunt refusal to even look at it was ridiculous. They just keep repeating themselves like a parrot saying graded banknotes must be from a reputable company and ignored everything else. When I asked where in my listing does it mention grading so I can avoid this problem in the future they told me my query was answered and there were going to terminate the call if there was nothing else. It’s not affected my sales as such but just another example of AI annoying users and the policies being so rigid that common sense goes out the window.

It’s already gone through an appeal and had a customer service agent look at it who told me there is nothing they can do as decision is final. As I said in other post it’s not the end of the world, it’s just another example of eBay AI and scripts being so rigid they can’t use common sense. It shouldn’t take emailing members on a forum to sort what is a blatant and obvious error.

All i did was give you the reason and the response from ebay,
Don't argue with me! argue with ebay.
11-07-2025 2:02 PM
I’m not arguing with me but you didnt seem to read the question in hand. I already know what eBay’s stance is and it contradicts their own policies, hence my post. There’s no point in repeating that to me I already know, eBay refuse to discuss it.

When I list banknotes I always put ungraded in the item specifics.
I also put uncertified in the other item specifics box, not because I’d sell replicas but just so it is clear to eBay that any condition comment I make in a description isn’t to be confused as official certification.
It might also be a good idea to leave the denomination blank. eBay have this obsession with forcing us to use £GBP when it is totally irrelevant and it can only lead to bot problems.
