Can anyone help please? I run my small barely a business 95% using the app but today it suddenly says unsupported. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled but am still getting the same message. I urgently need the app to be working as I cannot carry the laptop everywhere with me ...
Thank you for any help.
Can someone flag this to one of the eBay staff for me please or tell me how to do that?

Have you any update on when the app will be sorted so I can get it running again?

Hi Kat
My device is Wileyfox Swift 2 X
Android 8.1.0

Hi All,
Tech have confirmed the latest report of the app not working is not a technical issue. Sometimes, to ensure that you are using the latest version of eBay, we require you to update your app version. Please uninstall and reinstall your app, and then log back into eBay as normal. That should rectify the situation. If this does not work, you may need to upgrade your OS version and then reinstall the eBay app. In the meantime, you can also access ebay.co.uk via your desktop or mobile web browser.
Thank you
Kat

I have tried all those things and it still isn't working. My OS version won't update beyond what it is, I tried that too. The mobile browser does not work effectively and I can't carry my laptop around in my pocket. My selling activity has been severely affected today please tell me how this will now be resolved.
It would have been extremely helpful if users had been advised well in advance of this change so that those of us who rely on the app could have been prepared in some way.

Hi Kat
I have tried this again, still no joy.
On Goople Play Store, the date it was last updated still states - last updated 21 June 2023 - version 6.115.0.2
Have the updates to the app been made live in the UK, surely if they had been made live the 'last updated date' & 'version' number would change.
Is there a problem on Goople Play Store?
I used to do a lot of programming at my work before I retired so I know what I'm talking about.
Regards

Hi @5216elisabeth ,
I understand and we will feedback the point regarding communication on the app update. It does update on a regular basis but it does now mean your current os system may not be compatible with the latest version of the app.
Thank you,
Kat

Hi @joyceidris59 ,
If it's showing that it last updated 21 June 2023 then it would be an older version of the app and not the newest. If its not giving the newest as an option to update to it would mean your operating system is an older one that is no longer supported.
Thank you,
Kat

Thanks Kat. I don't really understand what I need to do to make it work though, can you explain please exactly what I need to do. Or is it something eBay techs need to do? The tech language baffles me somewhat. I have worked really hard and suddenly I can't do what I need to do i.e. use the app. I am rather confused and have a stinking headache from trying to get this working again.

@5216elisabeth are you using and android or apple device?

Android - it's a Samsung Galaxy S8+

@5216elisabeth I’m not au fait with that OS.
Have you tried using the mobile version?

Please see a post I made in another thread about the issue that explains the situation.
In short you either need to find a way to update the operating system on your existing device or purchase a newer device. What device do you have and what is the version of the operating system?

Sorry but that is not good enough. The eBay app is a very simple piece of software, it could easily run on almost any phone. To change it overnight with no warning, making it no longer work on potentially thousands of phones is absolutely unacceptable. Not everybody can afford new phones, and neither do they want them - especially when literally every other app works perfectly fine, including apps with a lot more functionality than the eBay one. It is an absolute joke to merely wake up to "oh well, you need a new phone". No way.
Yes it can work through a browser on the phone, but functionality and interface is not as good this way. It needs urgently patching so that it will work as it did only last night. Buyers will merely turn it off if they cannot sign in, and sellers will be unable to easily perform basic functions on the move like the app allows.

The latest Android operating system Samsung provided for that device was 9.0. Android 10.0 is the minimum Android version required for the latest eBay app.

Dear Kat
Very many thanks for your input on this. I too have had this issue where I am now locked out of the App. I use a Samsung Galaxy S8. Android.
I would be grateful if you could please add me to the ticket as the app has been such a useful tool.
Thank you again.

I have tried that - it really doesn't work well. Or at least it doesn't on my phone.
04-02-2025 7:12 PM
Thanks for your reply. I have a Samsung S8+ with Android 9 - so it's not something really old. I have tried to update the operating system - took me ages to find out how - but I can't get it to go any higher. Purchasing a newer phone to replace it really isn't an option for me just now so if you have any ideas how I can get it working I would be really appreciative.

Reading the collective replies here so far it looks like you may not be able to get it working with the app, at least for now.
I think you were saying how you relied on beeps for messages earlier. If you link your eBay account to your email you should be able to get something similar running but use wise it looks like the mobile site for the moment and I know what you mean about that, but it's better than nothing.
