Hi
We have been selling on ebay for over 10 years. Sales have been down since start of 2024 but its completely dead. Like we look at our stats from July to September and sales figures are less that what we are paying ebay for Promoted listings etc.
Although we have moved our inventory to Amazon and tiktok but wondered what has actually happened to our Ebay. It used to be aweseome but we now cannot even afford to list. Listings are sat there doing nothing even with promoted listings.
November has been our difficult month so far as with Zero sales i mean come on there got to be something causing this loss. Is it new so called AI.
Please share your findings.🤔🤔

I closed my shop at the end of October ended all my listings and took a break from this nightmare.
I came back 10 Jan as I have loads of stock still to shift, only listed winter stock a few things 37 items and was amazed I got 6 sales. I know I would not have gotten those if I had still got the shop as they were in the shop getting no views before I shut it.
I did no promotions just listed and left them. When you click on see sellers other items it looks like a shop anyway. I know you get perks with the shop but if you are not selling enough to justify the cost its not worth it.
I wont leave listings just sitting and relisting every month anymore at the end of this month I will end them all and list another bundell of listings I am going to stick to a listing budget at least I made a profit this time worth having not like before with a shop and promo fees.
I thought I would miss the shop but not missed it at all infact it's a weight lifted if anything.
Ebay has had it time its no longer the ebay it once was has not been for years. So I am not expecting anything to change for the better in the future either.
We all know what greed does 😉 it's made it impossible for sellers to make a profit anymore.

Believe me I think about the same.
17,266 listings - in various categories -
100% positive feedback
TOP seller ratings for each category: 5 5 5 and 5
60 DAY RETURNS - free returns on most items
FREE next day delivery on hundreds items and 2-3 free delivery on the rest.
Nearly all items PROMOTED
Constantly running SALES and DISCOUNTS
Sales for last few days - 8 items sold, 2 items sold - 11 items sold.....
REALLY? I would sell more on the street by my house!
RIP

Absolutely dead, not even views on some products! Now EBay are charging buying costs for item verification which will certainly put off future customers.
Vinted is certainly much busier but is not geared up for shops.
Where is everyone going to market their shops ? Any idea?

"Where is everyone going to market their shops ? Any idea?" - Here's an idea. With hundreds of new items in various sizes and using stock photographs; just correctly register and problem solved.

I wrote this post in November 2024, things were bad then, since then ebay seems to have damaged itself by making another stream of random changes not thought out.
Tis the end i tell ya all.............

I wish I could do this but every time I opened a seller account. EBay forced me onto a business account because I have a business bank account the money is transferred to. I’m giving it until end of April then downsizing the shop. I wish I knew where everyone is selling as I’d move in a heartbeat.

I’d love to know this too!!

There's nothing stopping you from opening a personal bank a/c with another bank. I did this long ago, when ebay brought in Mangled Payments. No way I was giving ebay access to my main account.

'EBay forced me onto a business account because I have a business bank account the money is transferred to.'
You are trading as a business seller so that's correct. You are not a private seller.

His current account has 567 brand new items listed, and none pre-owned. So even though I'd normally say people are impolite when they jump to conclusions rather than enquiring, it does seem unlikely he'd expect to sell those items on a private account.
I was assuming he had some decluttering to do at home and wanted to open another account for genuine personal use. If so, nothing wrong with that.

Good job I didn't jump to conclusions and did my homework first before commenting.
I haven't assumed that they want to open a private account to declutter as they have replied to a business seller on the business boards about downsizing their shop.
If they need help to open a private account to sell their unwanted items, then that's a different scenario.
@haynesexplains you are welcome to your opinion.
