Hi
We have been selling on ebay for over 10 years. Sales have been down since start of 2024 but its completely dead. Like we look at our stats from July to September and sales figures are less that what we are paying ebay for Promoted listings etc.
Although we have moved our inventory to Amazon and tiktok but wondered what has actually happened to our Ebay. It used to be aweseome but we now cannot even afford to list. Listings are sat there doing nothing even with promoted listings.
November has been our difficult month so far as with Zero sales i mean come on there got to be something causing this loss. Is it new so called AI.
Please share your findings.🤔🤔

I am a business been trading on here for 25 years and its safe to say I'm pretty qualified to have an opinion as to whats happening with ebay... its dying. 40% less sales than 3 years ago. Sales have literally nosedived. I think its due to ebay policies themselves as well as a combination of the economy, Temu, Shein, Amazon etc. A lot of people shop elsewhere now have far more platforms to choose from and that are far cheaper albeit sell cheap tat.

Business here too, sales have literally stopped for months on here, I agree policy changes have impacted the whole site, things needed changing i agree but ebay could have gone about things a whole lot better than they did. Fees for business sellers along with ever increasing promoting which is ebays answer to everything now (even though alot of members know its is purely cash income for ebay) and alot of members have turned it off due to a recent change. The costs to run a business on here is not sustainable for the returns. A business will never be in full control on a platform. Ebay will never listern to the problems that are being voiced by so many members

The effect of Temu, Shein and the like could be blunted if the Chancellor stopped them abusing the de minimis system to avoid customs and VAT.

I'm currently sat feeling completely defeated and just reduced my shop subscription. I feel at this moment in time i have no option but to try to sell the last of my remaining stock and close down my business which has been going for a total of 9 years. I feel sick with worry as i have other commitments that make going out to work difficult at the moment, Ebay always worked around me which i liked. The fees are so incredibly damaging for small businesses and i feel I'm backed into a corner. I'm even starting to think what's the point of anything any more, i just feel so down trodden and finding it hard to focus on what to do next. Its just figures and money to Ebay but it's so much more to the small business seller. There's no help and you are left to struggle... i cannot struggle any longer and for my mental wellbeing i have to think of closing up and finishing even though it's a tough call to make. I wish everyone on here the best and i hope things get better for you all.

So sorry to hear. Life is tough for many but you have to think of yourself. Sometimes you just need a break from it all.
all the best to you x

I'm sorry to hear you are feeling so low. If you are able to perhaps just taking a break from it for a bit and letting your head clear might enable you to come up with a positive forward plan. Sometimes when you are so deep in something it becomes hard to see the way forward. Especially when you have put years into it. You have lovely items for sale and excellent feedback, just the type of seller I would buy from. In fact, if I wasn't suffering lower than expected sales myself I would be seriously tempted by that Christmas curtain lol.
It certainly hasn't felt the same here this year but I am holding on for now and hoping it will pick up again. If it doesn't, there must be alternatives these days. I hope you soon feel a bit more positive.
All the best

Please don't be too hasty as we have the busiest time of year approaching and there are a lot of buyers who like new bedding for Christmas.
Have you looked at selling on other sites too? The V one may be a good one for you to try. Sell for a little less as the buyer pays for postage and there are no selling fees. Your photos are great and it is easy to list.
You could put some of the xmas lines on FB marketplace. Some timewasters but still worth a try.
Very best of luck to you.

Hi @michbut20
Hope you are ok. It is tough at the moment, you aren’t alone. It is a hard call to make.
Put it all away for a day, and have some you time.
These boards aren’t a positive place to be sometimes, nature of the forum.
