So yesterday the biggest seller of a certain product I sell (I was number 2/3 best seller this year), and who was a private seller, had all his listings removed.
They have sold consistently at 40% cheaper than me due to no taxes to pay. They are also probably sending the item as large letters instead of small parcels as 26mm.
I could not compete.
There’s only so much
1. Optimised listing
2. Advertising
3. 90 day returns
4. Great product reviews
5. 460,000 positive feedbacks over 25 years
Will bring to the table.
Strangely my sales have gone right up.
Just imagine what would happen if eBay finally get these businesses masquerading as private sellers all off site!

Great news! There is hope after all.
I hope you celebrate tonight with some fizz. Not too much as you will have a lot more packing to do tomorrow.

A few weeks ago I emailed the head of HMRC compliance for VAT. He replied today.
They are now FULLY aware of the situation of non-uk sellers who have abandoned their old VAT paying at source eBay accounts, who have now turned to UK private accounts in order to evade VAT.

Thats nice but non-uk sellers, what about UK sellers avoidoing not only vat but income tax and NI and fee avoidance as well as consumer rights.

There’s also another competitor of mine who is a private seller with 270 listings of new items. Clearly a Chinese seller. I made a test purchase from them in June and this arrived from a UK based fulfilment centre owned by a company with Chinese directors. This is the same fulfilment centre we passed information over to HMRC several years ago and they issued VAT demands over £1 million.
When the item arrived, I opened the item not as described case stating I thought that the seller was private. They instantly refunded me the whole purchase price, why would they do that? Unless they have some things to hide?
Fast forward five months and they are still on eBay but this morning they have sent me a 10% off discount. Maybe they have been notified that their listings will be removed like the one above?I will keep a close eye on this

Was accused of being a Chinese seller yesterday and buying off tempi ? Never been on temu, the cabochon backings were Ali ex . But the cabochons themselves are made by a lady in Netherlands

Temu copy other designs from sellers and sell them
So there are probably exact copies of what you sell, for sale, much cheaper on Temu now...
