Viesing payments summary

It's getting increasingly difficult to have a quick look at the payments summary in Seller Hub.

I have to sign again nearly every time, despite being already signed in.

There's usually some splash screen wanting me to do something else like confirm my email, set up fingerprints, or an advert for some other eBay stuff to click past.

Now I'm being asked to set up a passkey PIN. I can click past it, but no way to say don't ask me again.

Seller Hub used to display the payments total in the summary, now it's several clicks away, with often 3 nag popups on the way.

Have to agree with you, it's a real pain in the backside, not just to get to that screen, but if the tiniest bit of security is needed, you have to sign in again and again and again!  It's very frustrating.

Whilst I understand the need for security, there is most certainly no requirement to have to sign in again more than once in a few minutes.  And this is something that quite regularly happens.
And it ONLY happens on Ebay.

I avoided the passkey for a long time, but to be honest, I find it considerably easier now.  It's no less secure etc, so I don't see any drawback with it.

From reading up on passkeys, some users seem to have had problems accessing on other devices that don't use windows. e.g. android phones and tablets.

I'm confused about the PIN - is it the same PIN I use to unlock Windows, or do I need a different PIN for every website?

Does it ask for the PIN every time after it's initially been set up?

That spelling mistake in the title is going to bug me every time I check the forum.

I know what you mean about the spelling, it's exactly that kind of thing that bugs me too!  🙂

It's like noticing that auto correct changes something and you can't do anything about it once you notice.

With the passkey, forget about every other website, it's for Ebay only.

You choose the pin you want to use yourself.

It does ask for the pin for various parts of the website, but it's not quite as burdensome as the password/username combination.  Which makes things quicker.  And I don't think it asks quite as often, though not certain of that one.  What it does do, is stop it from constantly pestering you about setting it up!

I set up the passkeys hoping it would get rid of this problem but for me, using the passkey does not work at all on eBay as it just goes back to the passkeys page so you go round and round in circles keep putting in your same info and it still won't sign you in.

You might want to try with a different browser.

Also, clear you cache and cookies and then try again.

Had a look at the eBay android app on my phone.

It wanted me to sign in, and password doesn't save, got caught out before with that when trying to research prices when out and about, couldn't remember the password.

Now the app wants more verification.

Presumably that would be a different PIN to the one on laptop?

How many PINs am I supposed to be able to remember? I'm not Rain Man!

The app shows current funds in account - why did they remove that from the Windows version of Seller Hub?

Or it shown somewhere I'm not looking?

To be honest, I very rarely use the app.  I haven't signed into to it in months now.

I find it difficult and quite annoying to use.

But I would imagine that the same pin number will be used on the App, or if uses a different process, then I'm quite sure that you could set it the same anyway.

It's definitely shown somewhere that your not looking.  Ie. in the payments menu!  🙂

I kind of get why they would remove it though.  It's fine, if your the only person using your PC etc, but if you have staff, do you really want them to see that information, or have access to it?

It shows 7, 31 & 90 day totals, I can't see how showing account balance would be any more harmful.

Didn't the Overview page used to be a lot more customisable? I'm sure I used to be able to move stuff about.

I can't see the customise button now.

That is a different kind of information, that is total sales.

That is not how much you have in the account.

Obviously some people will be ok with this, but I'm pretty sure that the bigger the company, the less likely that they will be happy with staff knowing how much money is sitting in the account.

Sales totals tend to be public knowledge, but not bank balances, which though the Ebay account isn't a bank, it is effectively a bank account.

Personally, I wouldn't want staff to know how much money was hanging around.  It gives them ideas, as people see maybe thousands of pounds sat there, but don't see the bills you have to pay at the same time.....

I'm not getting the passkey request popup now.

I think part of the problem was that the eBay page was automatically clicking confirm on the suggestion screen, with no chance to click skip for now.
