This is perhaps first Christmas where we are hitting flat zero sales with over 100 Listings.
What has gone wrong to this once wonderful ebay where we used to get many sales starting November December . Last year 2023 was okay but not great. This year we are on flat zero even weekends are dead.
Has anyone else noticed same issue. What do you think has gone wrong. People are still buying stuff other platforms amazon, tiktok but nothing on ebay.
Please share your ideas.

They were over ten pounds. I've only started seeing these codes on listings in the last two weeks or so. When go to pay and add the code it says I don't have funds in my eBay account, so can't get any discount. I believe this format is new.

How daft is that.
I was going to buy some packaging supplies thinking I could just add the code as normal…
It would have been better if they had just said 5% off for orders using the eBay balance. It just causes disappointment at checkout the way they have done it.

I don't buy much here now, but this just makes it more likely to buy elsewhere. I thought eBay were trying to attract more private account buyers.

I got one of these codes earlier today offering about £1.50 off an £8 item and when I went to pay for the item in the checkout, eBay then told me in small red writing;- "this offer is only available if you pay using your eBay balance."
Eh ?... Oh I seeeee ! Oh, I tell you what eBay FORGET IT !
Seems like a crafty trick to get people to leave their sales money with eBay ! in their balance !

It's not going to work. It will more likely make buyers buy off site.

Definitely agree.
This is now going to backfire and drive people away from buying as it makes buyers annoyed when eBay offers them a tiny discount and then when you go to use it, they then tell you that you can't ! and the offer is only subject to you paying with an eBay balance. 😞 This is not good eBay ! 🙄

If ebay is making this kind of offer the idea that people will use their balances to buy on the site isn't working.
The wallet facility needed to have been introduced at the start of managed payments, not years later when the habit of using balances on the site has long gone.

I seem to remember that during ebay's mad rush to sign-up private sellers to MP we were promised that a wallet facility was 'coming soon', no doubt to nudge some of the waverers into agreeing.
There's no doubt in my mind that providing a wallet has only been dusted off now because ebay is desperate to get private sellers back again in an attempt to boost sales and of course to boost ebay's bank account and the interest it earns on our balances.
I think to myself "What's the point?" Without sponsoring my listings I've sold only 4 items in '24 worth roughly £40 after fees, perhaps £45 now the fees have been waived.
But I've bought nothing at all on ebay this year because I've found the few new goods I've needed cost less at the local super-markets and finding any interesting vintage glass to buy is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Most of what I'm looking for is likely to be sold by other private sellers who also do not sponsor their listings, so their items were made as difficult to find as mine were.
Ebay is again shooting itself in the foot. High fees for business sellers making them un-competitive. No fees for private sellers, but with the proviso that to stand much chance of selling anything, they have to sponsor.
So as a private seller I must learn about sponsoring before I can sell anything. Then have my funds held for at least 14 days, then leave them in my Wallet until I find something worth buying and hope that ebay will continue giving away discount vouchers until that day comes?
Do those running ebay really think that's a good deal?????
🤣 🤣 🤣

8500+ items for sale in Multi-Lists etc...11 sales for all December 2024 whereas previous years I was working my socks off to keep up with packages etc. Something is really wrong in Ebay world!

Try reading the reviews on Trustpilot. It puts a lot into perspective. If people felt annoyed enough to review 16 times in one week then goodness knows how many others there are.

The whole year was down. I sell on both Ebay and E tsy and worst year in 10 years. Its not totally the platform its fact nobody is spending like they used to last couple years. The platforms are partly responsible however. When I would google my products they would show up in search. Now FORGET it unless you are paying them for advertising. And even then they show up wayyy down list. As usual always setup for them to make the big cash which means spending as little as possible on promoting our items.
