VAT registration

I have been contacted by EBay to provide my VAT registration documents within the next 30 days or my account will be restricted

i have sold on EBay for 4 years and have always kept my sales under the VAT Threshold

I have discussed this with my accountant who is daunting I do not need to register for

VAT

just wondering if any body else has encountered this issue and any resolutions .

thank you

Re: VAT registration

Write to customer service and insist on solving your issue. Do this several times if necessary. I was dealing with it for 2 weeks till I was informed it was solved for my account.
Tell them it was a Location issue bug, that your goods are in in your country and you never sold anything from UK, you are only sending to UK.
Check all your listings if the location is set to your country, this is most important - you received theis UK VAT email because of the bug changed some of your listings to UK location and that trigered the email.
Best advise is to write to customer service so many times, you find someone who can help you, they are not all the same, some know about the issue some dont.
I recomend you to write email to customer service rather than chat them.
For example HERE and at bottom on the page is the email you can use and explain it there.

Re: VAT registration

Thanks a Lot cemak.m .eBay reactivated my account after I sent an email to
eBay help as you prescribed .but they still want the VAT ID to be up to
date .i attached the screenshot of the mail .Do we still need VAT ID ?
Thanks for your kind help .

We're excited to let you know that your account is no longer restricted from selling on UK

Going forward, be sure to keep your Value Added Tax (VAT) details up to date in the Business Details section of your account so you can avoid these kinds of restrictions. As a reminder, your business name on eBay should always match your HMRC account and Companies House information.

Re: VAT registration

@wonder_deal You are welcome, I am glad it helped.
I think you should be OK and the UK VAT is no longer required, since they restored your account. Most likely its just a mistake by the customer service representative telling you, you  need to keep it up to date, while in reality its all solved and you dont need any.

If it was still required they would not restore your account without providing it in the first place.
If you go to your account settings and there is nowhere a red rectangle asking you to update VAT UK, you should be OK.
