Simple Delivery

I think this Simple Delivery thing is just a way for Ebay to make money, especially after the scrapped the seller fees. I don't want to be limited to Ebay suggestions for postage. And the items I have listed for sale have come up with varying postage rates, some far too high and others that wouldn't cover the real cost of sending.

Simple Delivery

Just a few years ago, I don't think any of us would have imagined eBay would introduce a postage system where we would have this very limited choice of who we can post with, & how we dispatch items... and that eBay would also be setting the prices!

Many sellers will now be excluded from selling, for one reason or another - and many more will find the whole thing too complicated & stressful to bother with.

Given the choice, the vast majority of sellers would much prefer to sort out their own postage arrangements. It really does look like eBay don't want small, amateur sellers any more, because the BPF & Simple Delivery seem to have been specifically designed to discourage them.

I totally agree with what you say. It's ridiculous that an AI bot has determined the weight and size of something "random" that I want to sell. I don't overcharge when I set the postage rate, I just make sure my costs are covered and buyers have always been happy. Now with the new system the prices are really high for large letters but too low for parcels. I wonder if anybody from Ebay reads the comments.

It seems such a backwards step to have the parcel weight/size 'approximated' by AI, instead of letting sellers buy an accurate postage label, or go to the post office to get one!

Royal Mail must have agreed to this, but it seems a funny way of doing things. Surely it makes more sense to have nearly all correctly labelled parcels going through the system, rather than a load of haphazard weights & sizes, hoping it will 'average out'... It's like guesstimating cake ingredients, and that usually ends in failure... 😄
