You spoke, we listened! In the coming months, we're updating the Overview page to help you focus on key tasks, work faster, & grow your business. Watch out for new changes, and let us know how we could improve.
You spoke, we listened!
How ?Where? When?
We are often told these boards are not viewed by ebay staff.
If this is a genuine effort to work with the platforms users, then why not debate prior to establishing changes?
From history, once ebay dictate something - Its stays, whether its popular or indeed even functional.
I would also question with the amount of MASSIVE major issues which ebay have created over the past couple of months with new policies, wouldnt the repairing of those 'insanity's' come before more changes?

That's the point!
Us mere users can't judge, but...
eBay's employees, tasked with monitoring the boards (if they are going to do this) should be able to identify the s**t, and deal with it accordingly.

I DISAGREE WITH YOUR COMMENTS.
This will not be the normal, anytime soon.
eBay should, but do not have all the answers. Can we expect them to, really.
eBay do their best. It’s called progress.
False claims, wrong advice, innocently or deliberate … eBay can’t be expected to clamp down on them as you state.
No one including eBay can define without absolute accuracy. Even if you think you can.

...and I disagree with yours. But that's OK.
I don't understand your comment in post #43 though.
If you've got something to say, say it. Cryptic nonsense doesn't help anyone.

Any business seller would already be using affordable ! postage
what does affordable mean anyway?
it goes with the territory that a business will get the best prices for their costs
it’s a little perplexing if not insulting
maybe they’re going to offer business sellers really really cheap postage then lol if any business seller is not already signed up to the best rates they can get

I totally agree!
They think everyone is a business, despite the fact eBay's origin story is based around sellers of preowned items.
Most private sellers started out as buyers of second-hand tat, who went on to sell their own second-hand tat.
Not sure exactly when proper business sellers started to flock to eBay, but a lot of us remember the early days when the likes of Argos, Currys etc. wouldn't be seen dead on a predominately pre-owned goods site.
But times move on and the site has morphed into what it is today and it's obvious that the powers that be at eBay want shot of the genuine private seller.
It is blindingly obvious that the changes eBay have implemented of late are there to drive the genuine private sellers away, from the BPF, SD and even the HMRC issue (not wholly eBay's fault, that one) etc.
I have been saying to myself and some others for years that eBay should have TWO separate eBay platforms.
eBay PRO - For Business Sellers, selling brand new goods, with full DSR, multi-size.
eBay OG - For "Genuine" private sellers, selling used, unwanted single items.
You will always get those that will flout the T&Cs and find a way to try and trade as a private when in fact they are technically a business, but with modern tech, such as AI (as much as I hate it), this should be easier to weed the bad actors out.

If ebay did introduce/force SD for businesses (God forbid) then for me there would have to be the option to add in a charge for the cost of packaging.

I also had that and chose other since I am a business seller and an ‘old tat in the house’ seller which is NOT a side hustle 😆

I must admit that i actually resent those who call private selling 'a side hustle', that implys it is something between illegal and a business.
14-05-2025 9:42 PM
I got that as well, been selling on here since 1998. I know how to pack etc
14-05-2025 9:43 PM
Erm, so where would people like me sell then? Business seller that sells ‘old’ collectibles? None of my items are new.

It's been tried and didn't work. I seem to remember it being called ebay Express.

I think they tried that one already, years ago.
It was called 'ebay express', I think. Dead in the water pretty quickly ⚰️

Absolutely agree. It gives the image of shady shenanigans. A side hustle in my mind is something you do in addition to your main income to bump it and is declared as such. Private selling is selling things you own that you no longer want/need/have a use for.

Yes. 'Hustle' has the feel of ripping somebody off on the pool table, or erm...... earning money in the 'night-time economy' 👄👠💄
Flogging the contents of my husband's shed and workshop has none of that 'vibe'!

Can't help fearing what they might come up with next... after Simple Delivery, it might be 'Simple Shopping'... 😱
AI will decide what it thinks you need, based on your browsing history. Items will be auto-purchased & dispatched, without you having to do a thing...
Opt in today, & tomorrow you could find a Val Doonican LP & three jelly moulds on your doorstep... carefully chosen for you by 'Simple Shopping'...

They’ve had Managed Delivery in the States since 2020 - an end-to-end fulfillment service whereby ebay’s "national fulfillment partners will store, pack, and ship your items.” Stores over this side of the pond probably aren’t big enough to make it worthwhile.

@lucy_farmer and others
The HMRC decided to use this term in their recent ads to cajole such ‘hustlers’ to register correctly for tax. Sadly eBay jumped on the bandwagon.

once again someone trying to be humorous but unfortunately maybe a bit too near the truth to be!!!
