Sent a large box to a Buyer Signed for tracked.Royal Mail
Tracking Shows Royal Mail destination Sorting office received following day
& tried delivery but no one in.So package returned to Sorting office awaiting collection
by buyer (assuming a card was left and the buyer understood found the card sometimes they go missing or arent left and went)
However 10 days on still not collected.
Have e mailed Buyer twice.
Funds are on hold for 2-3 weeks !
Either the Buyer hasnt for some reason not collected or has but slack sorting office counter staff have not'signed off as delivered'when they handed it over?So it still shows 'undelivered' officially which means in turn I dont get paid & a refund is likely.
It used to be possible to telephone individual sorting offices but I dont think thats possible any more.
Could this be some kind of a scam?
I did my part by sending it signed for tracked but the system has failed me.
The only way this could have worked if so was if the buyer collected knowing the counter clerk was often too busy too 'beep'the thing signed for delivered as he found and handed the box over without electronically completing the delivered tick box.something out of my control .A redelivery would be less likely to go un traced.
To compound matters I think I forgot to put my return address on it!
I dont really want it back anyway.
So it may just get thrown away however I will still owe the Buyer the amount whether they make a claim or not as I think E bay treat it as 'undelivered'uncollected'by tracking and just send the buyer money back anyways after a certain period of time.
Surely this is the Post Offices responsibility they acknowledge the parcel was received in their care and that I sent it proof to E Bay.
If the buyer didnt collect and it got chucked away thats surely their fault?I tried.
Not collecting it is obstruction and without a good reason was a spurious and time wasting order.Further more Ive had no response from 2 e mails re this sent to Buyer in past week.I have explained that poor feedback may result on this transaction to the effcet that they ordered but never collected.

eBay counts an attempted delivery as 'Delivered'. If the buyer raises an INR, make sure that you enter the tracking number on the INR (if it isn't already there). This should protect you, but one never knows with eBay. You may have to plead your case with CS.
It's unfortunate that you didn't include a return address on the parcel. This means that, if the buyer doesn't collect, the package will be sent to Belfast to be opened. If your address is found inside, e.g. on a packing slip, then the parcel should make its way back to you - although this can take a couple of months. If there's no clue to the sender inside the package, the contents will be auctioned (if they have any value) or binned (if they don't).

Hopefully they won't leave poor feedback given that this is their error.
You should always put a return address on any package that you send out, unclaimed packages or those that have gone stray do usually wend their way back to the sender.
Your buyer isn't covered by eBay if the tracking shows attempted delivery. They would, however, be covered by PayPal or their card provider.
