Just received a purchase and the name of the addressee is "Rectal Wart". The address appears to be a genuine residential address. Buyer has a total of 12 feedback and registered in March 2024. Not sure if I should just ship, or cancel the order?

The buyer and the intended recipient are not necessarily the same person so possibly someone playing a joke on someone else.
Personally, I wouldn't want to get involved and would be inclined to cancel citing 'Problem with buyers address'.

Forgot to mention item is a pair of jeans.

I can relate to that one... actually that was a boil
But nah in seriousness I have had a few clearly joke names so I assume ebay dont really care but would definitely make sure its tracked + maybe take a photo to show the package incase you need it. Assumably they have to use a correct name on Paypal.

To be honest in this day and age, it could be their actual name 😅

I often buy items for friends and family and get the item shipped directly to them.
One of my friends is named Wayne ,you can guess the genuine surname 😆 !.

Do the registered details match the delivery address? If I were to send this I would address it to R Wart.

Just hope they don't have to collect it from the Delivery Office and provide ID in that name....

Hope you get to the bottom of the problem. (Sorry, couldn't resist !) Seriously though, follow the process, take photos, keep tracking info and you shouldn't have any issues.

I have since received negative feedback following cancellation of the order.

Personally I would have gone for the R. Wart option, if it's tracked then not much else to go wrong, you appear to offer free returns anyway so even fraud return wasn't a worry.
The good news is that the way eBay displays feedback now, the neg doesn't appear at the top of the list...
