Item number: 266882524657 - Order number: 21-12337-06867.
I sold the above item on 21 - 11 - 2024 and the buyer paid immediately. Postage was free and it stated that it should be 2nd class, Signed for. Two days later, the buyer messaged to ask if it had been posted yet. I replied politely and explained. His response was rather curt. I posted the item 1st class (no tracking) within the set time parameters and messaged him. Three days later, he messaged to say that he had not received it. The following day he messaged again. His manner was not the politest. I asked him to wait another 24 hours and if there was no delivery, I promised I would send him a full refund and so I did. Since then, no communication. I accepted it. No feed back from either side, fine. Just out of curiosity, I looked for his eBay page according to his user name. It does not exist. When the purchase was made, I checked his page but it only showed one item and nothing much else, but since eBay said that I had received payment, I left it at that. Perhaps it was exactly as it seems: item never arrived. Alternatively, ... sellers beware!

If you posted the item via RM you might find you have a 16 digit number on the receipt even if you didn't send recorded or tracked.
You can use that number on RM track and trace site which may show you where it is.

Why did you change your postage option ?
Second class signed for would show delivery and you would not have had to refund.
What should we be aware of?

If it hasn't been delivered then the reference probably wont work for a non recorded. Maybe it has genuinely gone missing and might find its way back. The reference should work if its been delivered and actually if it doesnt get delivered you can put in a claim with Royal Mail and should win it even with only proof of postage. It used to be impossible to win a claim but with proof of postage and ref showing non delivery they have to pay out really.

You would have received an email from Royal mail confirming the postage. The item reference is below the destination address. You can use that on the tracking page.
