Not all totally bad news this time.
Opt in/opt out and eligibility
Can I opt out of Simple Delivery?
Yes, you can opt out of Simple Delivery when you’re creating the listing.
For now great news. One that needs to be heeded is:
Without limiting other remedies, we may limit, suspend, or terminate your user account(s) and access to our Services, restrict or prohibit access to, and your activities on, our Services, cancel bids, remove or demote or otherwise restrict the visibility of listings, delay or remove hosted content, remove any special status associated with the account, reduce or eliminate any discounts, and take technical and legal steps to keep you from using our Services if:
we think that you are creating problems or possible legal liabilities for us, our users, suppliers or other third parties.
My query is: does ebay now holding a sellers funds slightly come under the profiteering umbrella.

Losing my choice of who to use for posting will not work for me.
Unfortunately one way or another ebay get money if I buy or sell.
If I buy only then ebay will get some money from every purchase I make.
When I sell then ebay get a bit off every buyer that buys.
Either way the only winner is ebay.

That is true.
At least for now the choice to opt out is still there.
Like you've said that could change at the shortest time they need to give.
The only saving grace for now is that they are taking stock of sellers views and posts before giving a definitive decision.
But saying that doesn't mean that decision can't or won't be changed in the near future.

Only if I don't buy via eBay and use another site where THEY get the money and NOT eBay ! 😁
Nothing against eBay personally but they need to start listening to ALL their users and taking their feedback SERIOUSLY.

Or at least acknowledge members views, thoughts, and concerns.
Some form of proper discussion or acknowledgement would be much appreciated by so many members instead of just posts on the forum.

Absolutely.
It would be great if someone from eBay could confirm whether this managed delivery/simple delivery thing will continue to remain optional ?

Just noticed the header across my remaining listings telling me they were updating terms and conditions. So thought I'd have another look as things seem to develop by the hour LOL.
I noticed this one in a long list on contraventions....
"In connection with using or accessing the Services you will not:
transfer your eBay account (including Feedback) and username to another party without our consent".
Anyone tell me if this is a newly added 'rule' that Obey have put in?

I’m not sure why you’ve kept referring to Freedom of Speech. You are using eBay’s platform to buy & sell. You are posting on their forum. The only freedom of speech is what they permit you. They could erase you from all of eBay’s systems and there would be nothing you could do about it. That has always been their right. Sure, if it cost you heavily financially, then you could take them to court. But good luck even with that.
It is the same everywhere.
YouTube once terminated my account instantly, as they claimed one of my videos breached their policies. (As I watched my Google Play videos through YT, it was a bigger issue.) Luckily they provided a way to challenge it, and I argued my case; and my account was reactivated within a day – no explanation, or admittance they got it wrong. If they hadn’t, there would have been nothing I could do about it. I stopped uploading content soon after. As I realised I was at their mercy, and did not like the feeling.

You have never been able to transfer accounts without permission. It's not new.

They will. Just before it becomes compulsory, they will tell you "no"!
And I'm sure one will even tell you, "yeah, absolutely. do not worry". Ha ha

To be honest it really does not surprise me.
It's just a shame that in regarding some things such under handed tactics need to be used.

My friend, that is the world of big business. Greed Trumps everything!

I agree it ebays platform etc but by the true definition of freedom of speech does only allowing people to say what they allow makes a complete mockery of the definition.
13-02-2025 6:53 PM
You are so right there. Really we are all just users of a platform for buying and selling.
Definitely not members.

I can't tell you the answer th that particular question but there are so many grey areas now and so many more questions than answers.
14-02-2025 7:16 AM
In general there have always been limits as to "freedom of speech" . Freedom of speech can only go so far.
14-02-2025 7:18 AM
I could understand if it was threatening or highly abusive etc or totally unfounded but to have a limit to what can be said based on fact is a bit much.
14-02-2025 7:50 AM
But so much ebay bashing is not based on fact. When it's not, it's based either on a simple misunderstanding, or wilful misunderstanding that suits the poster's agenda.
14-02-2025 7:57 AM
I don't ebay for the sake of it otherwise this wouldn't be my 20th year on here.
Surely having a discussion forum is for users to vent their annoyance and frustrations etc but at the same time say positive things when warranted.
It's just so many user policy changes etc not just for users best interests is bound to cause negativity.
14-02-2025 7:58 AM
That reply of mine should've said I don't bash ebay for the sake of it.

Last year , Vinted tried (and failed) to force all sellers to offer every delivery service they offer. Sellers went on holiday mode and/or cancelled orders that were using a courier that they hadn't activated.
Vinted listened and admitted that they'd got it wrong and allowed us to turn off the couriers that we didn't want to use.
I will go with the flow with policy changes (not that I have a choice) but delivery options offered should be 100% the sellers choice.
